I was the one that commented on that homerun yesterday and it was a BLAST! After seeing what this kid has done I cannot believe that Weddington would give that kid too much to hit let alone give him a chance to hit 2 HR's! Maybe they were misinformed in their scouting report....

    That would be Maverick Miles

This kid is the real deal from the traditional 5 tools standpoint and is a quality person.

tj, the comments about Mennitt were in response that some teams are smooth flashy and soft. You didn't say that.I remarked that wasn't the case with Marvin Ridge. When you play them, you've been in a fight.

I'm still trying to figure out that "scouting report" reply. I hope it wasn't referring to a parent asking for info about another team's pitchers and hitters. That ain't a scouting report. Now if someone starts posting about team tendencies: What do they like to do in certain situations. a Big hitter can't stay back on the CU, that a starting pitcher is easily distracted etc, etc. is never anything we would allow to be posted....and in the 9 years we have been around, it never has.

Just FYI, Chet wasn't on the staff in '88 when Harding won it. He took over a few years after and was never an assistant.

Of course I would keep you straight Braves.

And for the record. It has been 22 years since we shocked the world and won the state championship. This time of year continues to be a special time of year for me and many of my teammates. I love reading about some of the teams and players because I know they are building the kind of bonds and memories that I have.

We had a motto that season. "Don't leave it up to 'what if'". Play hard and do your best every night out and you won't have any regrets.

Good luck to all the teams and their players that are still in the chase for the ring.

Been wondering if the pitching isn't as strong this year or if the level of competition is better. Heck, maybe the hitters are smarter.

For example in 4A West last year, 7 of the 16 first round games were shutouts; this year, only 3 games were shutouts.

Last year, the losers scored 2 or less runs in all the games except for three of them.
this year, losers scored 3 or more runs in 10 of the 16 games.
