    I REMEMBER

I remember in HS a guy who missed foul shots to win a game and the next game dribbled the ball out of bounds. The coach made him carry a BB around the next 2 days at school and at practice. He did not dribble the ball out of bounds any more. He missed some foul shots but not when it really counted in the end. Rubber chicken that is funny. Bet the girls did not strike out looking anymore. 14-18 yr olds kids can be taught in funny or humorous ways. When they make errors at SS or OF a lot, let her carry a glove and ball around at school the next day as a sign. Kids will ask and what can she say but I dropped the ball to many times in the game. I had girl tell me that when anyone on her team strikes out looking. Its 3 laps around the outside of the fence for every strike out looking. Better be swinging if its close...... Which would be the best 3 or 6 laps or wearing a rubber chicken around school?

....easy there Goonbuddy. I know softballphreak and the NC Challengers. TRUST me on this one pal, the chicken on the neck gig was all in fun andall the kids knew it and would never, never take offense to it.

BIGTIME #1...I have not read the first post so what I'm posting is not related to it and only a reply to GoonPals post.

Now, when I played, and we traveled, we had the "kangaroo court".

For every error or K, etc. you or your teammmates were docked a dollar.

At the end of the year we all had a big party eating and having fun on the money paid for the very "mistakes" by the team. Whats wrong with that?

    Nothing.

Again, I have not read the first post so.......this post is on my own.

I remember my dad, (all-american at WFU) telling me to walk home from the park when I was 8 or 9 years old. BTW we were practicing on a Sat.

He was making me learn the hard way but it worked.

Back in those days, folks weren't so "bugged up the butt" as the folks are now.

We respected our parents and loved our coaches.
We wore our uniforms with pride, our hat faced forward and none of the hip hop sideways BS.

Were wore a belt that kept our pants up that we had to wear that were handed down to us from our big brothers. If our underwear showed it was a sign of a good family and all the kids would kid us about it....and that was fine!

Parents in the crowd would holler "keeeeep your cooool" and after the game we'd go to the burger joint and drink root beer and on the way in the van sing 99 bottles of beer on the wall!

So what if a kid wears a chicken around their neck, to me its great!

Let the kids grow up on their own and when or if the time comes that Bigdaddy or Bigmomma need to get involved,.....you'll know it.

Its too bad when our DD's cannot just be kids without some parents not the coaches taking it too far. When I was a kid this was all done in fun and all parents would say, "its just part of being a team".

Oh yeah it's attitude, self control, and being able to see beyond your own interest. Unquestionably a fine example of what it takes to get 'er done....LOL
