Baseball Question for Charlotte Observer readers?

Spending some time with my kids, who have only seen Dad locked up in the home office or speeding off to some interview. Gotta take the time when you can. Got more 14 and 16 hour days ahead.

And we did more than one IMECK game this year. That ain't fair, bub. We covered Mallard Creek yesterday, too.

First, thanks for the hard work. Balancing work and family is something we all struggle with and I have yet to meet anyone that thinks they are doing it perfectly.

Second, there is no way in the world that one man can cover all the game-to-game highlights. Simply too many games and not enough of you.

Features about conferences and then maybe a couple of individual stories of kids in that conference might be an idea with merit.
- The Ty Linton story as a part of a conference feature that mentions the key players from each of the teams in the private school conference with some words about how they are doing.
- The Mikal Hill story as a part of the IMeck conference feature the next week.
- Maybe you could work your way around to each conference doing a different conference each week (not sure that is possible...) This way each conference gets at least a little attention.
- Seems like you have been working toward this anyway, maybe trying to do it more formally is at least an approach to attack the task....

 

We've been doing this type of coverage all season. I've just been pointing it out a little more in the past two weeks. I think a lot of folks here are not seeing all we do. I have moved a few stories that would appear in other parts of the newspaper/website to the prep sports pages and linked them here, and you have sparked me to figure ways to make sure this happens in the future as well. We do a LOT of coverage at my shop. The consumers, you guys, shouldn't have to search so hard to find it, which most obviously are, or are just missing it altogether.

Guess that's why I was so stumped and dumbfounded when I was sent to this site a few weeks back. We'll fix. Promise.
