Trying to figure out why some think it was such a "shocker" that LN beat AC. AC graduated I think 5 seniors who were all everything, leadership, experience; you can't fill those shoes in one year it doesn't matter how good your incoming freshmen, reserves or JV are. Most know AC is always a good team, maybe not always great. LN is a good team who got a quality win over a good opponent "shocker" no way, "surprise" no way. Sometimes to much is expected based of reputation.

Couldnt have put it better than breakwater!!! I dont understand what the "surprise" was. LKN is an outstanding team that has been ranked in the top 10 for most of the year. They have good pitching a good lineup, and have only lost TWO games all year. As breakwater said AC lost TONS of talent last year and that is hard to repalce, even with Wilkinson on the mound. Wilkinson is a phenomenal pitcher not taking anything away from that kid, but Kayla Pine proved that people better start paying attention to her as well. With the exception of Lauren Elder who I was very impressed with at the plate and Jessica Childers' bomb in the 7th, Kayla pretty much shut down an offense that from what I heard had all 9 batters batting over 400! LKN, like AC is very young and I bet we will see this matchup for a few more years to come.

It was a suprise. Lake Norman is a very good ballclub. But AC made very bad mental mistakes last night that cost them. Take away just one of the errors in the 3rd, LN doesn't even score. That changed the whole game around. Sure they had 2 good hits off Chelsea. The rest of them were infield hits. Sometimes being lucky (hitting it in the right place at just the right time) is better than being good. AC hit some hard balls but they were always right at people. AC was close to being as good as they were last year, actually better in some cases, they didn't have a talent dropoff. Experience wise, sure they did. They had just as good of a team as last year, but it just wasn't their night.
