Post 13 traveled to Ahoskie last night to begin the regular season schedule without the benefit of several Hunt players who are still playing in the 3A playoffs. Post 13 came away with a 12-7 victory. Michael McLawhorn got the victory in relief of William Prince. McLawhorn entered in the sixth inning of a 3-3 game and went the rest of the way. Blake Hill (Lawrence Academy) pitched a good game for Ahoskie, but his defense let him down in the 7th (4 errors) that led to 9 Wilson runs to break open the game. Michael McLawhorn went 4-6 for Post 13 to lead the offense which included a 5th inning solo shot. David Gibbons was 3-6, Jake Young 2-5, & Mitchell Wheeler had a 3-run shot in the 7th, to help the cause. For Ahoskie, Zeke Williams had a 2-run shot in the 2nd, Blake Hill was 3-5, & Kyle Horton 2-5.

Post 13 is back in action tonight at Fleming Stadium (7:00) against Pitt County Post 39.

Diesel, that was David Gibbons. He's gonna be out a while. Strained (possibly tore) some side rib-cage muscles when he hit the fence. That's gonna hurt us. He was one of our best hitters & definately our best outfielder. Our catcher, Jake Young, also may have broke his finger last night on that slide into home plate. We're playing with some Junior Legion guys right now. May have to call a couple extra players up.

Sorry to hear he's injured, but maybe that will heal quick as long as nothing is broken. Full speed into the wall and took a wallop.

Yeah, we are playing kinda short handed right now as well. Should have full team/starters in place by the weekend. Letting the starting pitching rotation take a lil rest too, from all the innings they threw in HS. Starting SS and pitcher is out due to an allergic reaction to a tetanus shot!

Karl can't wait to come over to Wilson tonight to play. Should be a very good ballgame. Prince on the mound i'm guessing? What's your record? I'm sure with the Hunt boys back ya'll will start rolling.

Tonight's game should be as good as advertised. William Prince will toe the rubber for Wilson as Post 13's team is finally all together as the Hunt boys will be joining the team tonight. Rocky Mount will be good as always..with strong pitching, defense, and hitting. A re-match of the Area I finals tonight and likely a preview of this years Area I finals again. Good luck both ways!!

    Three games in...

...Wilson is 1-2, 1-0 in Area I East North Division, with short-handed win over Ahoskie, 12-7, and loss to Pitt County, 15-6. With all but one Hunt player back Sunday night, lost a slugfest with Wayne County, 11-10.

The game lived up to the hype with Rocky Mount winning 8-7 in 10 innings. I'll leave the details up to karlrocket.
