A perfect game???? Will anyone remember Jim Joyce in 5 yrs? Maybe, maybe not..... But the umps in Raleigh may could take a few lessons from Mr Joyce and the high class that he showed this week. Mr Joyce got his 15 mins and has moved on. A perfect game, there have been 20, we will maybe not remember all the ones that have been pitched or who pitched them. But we will remember some of the one's that were blown. In this case the high class that the pitcher and the ump handled it afterwards....... JMO

very classy indeed but baseball being the history laden sport that it is ump Joyce hit it on the head when he said: "this was the biggest call of my career and I kicked the #*%$ out of it". It will never be forgotten and much like Denkinger's blown call in the 1985 WS will be replayed over and over again.

it is very refreshing in this day and age that someone admits their mistakes. Rare.

I heard that the Ump was due to call behind the plate the next day in Detroit, and was asked to take the day off, maybe to rid himself of some of the ridicule he was gonna take......he siad, No way, nobody feels worse about my mistake than I do, that pitcher worked his as$ off and I made what I thought to be the right call only to find out after the game that I was wrong. The next night, the pitcher walked out to the plate with that nights line up and the ump and pitcher shook hands, gave a little "i'm with ya" hug and moved on. When the pitcher was asked his opinion, he stated in broken english that nobodys perfect! Class!
