We had a great tournament for a great cause. Didn't win but enjoyed the weekend. On a personal note: yesterday was hot and humid and many people (myself included) were a little frustrated at the long walk to the bathrooms. I had just gotten back from a bathroom break and thinking about the distance and heat when I happened to look up and see Ms. Pope standing with a group of girls and she was smiling and laughing. It hit me that wow this beautiful and courageous young lady had gone through so much and she is still standing and smiling. I don't have a valid reason to complain about heat and distance. What an inspiration she is. I wish her all the best in her recovery and her future.

It was worth all the heat and sweat and more to see Ashlyn Pope pitch to a batter Saturday evening. God Bless Ashlyn and her family through this most difficult time. I can't begin to understand what they have dealt with and continue to go through each day.

Not sure about results for other age groups but I talked with a parent this morning who was there and Smokey Mountain Sting swept the 18U division going undefeated. They beat the Carolina Curve 8-0 in five innings in the Championship game. Congratulations to Stan and The Sting. I always enjoy watching them play. Good luck to their two seniors who will be finishing their travel ball career this summer, but it looks like they are still going to have plenty of young talent to carry on.

Great cause for the softball community to give back to and I wish Ms. Pope and her family the best.

i wish my DD would have gotten to play in this tournament. we were asked to play with a coach from our area but I had already paid for her a trip to the beach prior to knowing about it. i hope it went great for all involved especially the family.

The Curve had a great time this weekend we finished with a 3-2-1 record, lots of good strong competition, and a good warm up for the season, and all for a very good cause! Congrats to the Sting on their championship win over us they have a very tough ball club, major shoutout to Lexi Shubert who pitched awesome all weekend with several shutouts including a three hit shutout silencing the strong Curve bats, this kid continues to impress and has an amazing future ahead of her. Also shoutout to the "beast of Union county" Rebekah Reaves who hit three homeruns out this weekend, and also Mellena Helms with her first of summer! We look foward to getting back on the field next weeeknd and Rock Hill for the Early Bird tournament.

    Agreed !!

When you shutout the Curve you have done an awesome job, and especially striking out a kid that has hit 16 HR's, and 3rd in the state. If you have not seen Lexi Shubert you need to,this kid is the REAL DEAL hands down..She will play @ a big school one day, and she will get the mound time not like some that may appear. She compares to Leslie with the SC Elite young and good !!!
