I agree, the two curling accidents I saw, the skater was using a composite broom handle.

My daughters weren't pitchers, thank God! One was a pretty fair hitter....bottom line, bats are too hot. I know they take a chance, but lets reduce the chance of getting them severely injured. JMO. Good discussion.

    ERA's

Let's do away with composite bats so that the ERA of the pitchers can be 0.005. 0.50 must not be good enough. The stats of the elite High School pitchers are crazy: 9 no-hitters in a season and an ERA of under 1.00.

My bet is the people wanting to do away with composite bats are pitchers
or parents of pitchers. The game needs more offense, in my opinion.

Keep driving down ERAs and you will drive away more kids and fans. Girls want to hit!

    PGA Did Do Something...

Ahh - but the PGA and USGA did take a stand this year with regards to technology when then banned irons with u-shaped grooves (thus preventing players from being able to 'spin' a golf ball so much. Something has to change in the game of fastpitch softball - at the college level and into HS. When I see college players slapping homeruns and 100 pound 12U players hitting balls 230+ ft, I just have to shake my head. Either the game has outgrown the current dimensions of the parks we use, or the technology has become so advanced that changes are needed.

Perhaps it will take the route of Class C, D, E adult fastpitch? If you hit too many homeruns you runs get taken off the board? Probably a bit farfetched, but you never know...

    Coming back

Composite bats will return to NCAA baseball in 2011. The older composites are too hot but you can get your teeth knocked out with a Rocket Tech just as quick. College wants these bombs hit or they wouldn't use the higher compression softball. I agree with another poster that the ball maybe changed before the bats. Probably should be that way so the majority of players don't have to go out and buy new bats.

TO THOSE WANTING TO MOVE THE FENCES BACK

    a) wheres the $ coming from???
    b) wheres the LAND coming from?

Big South (gaston-cleveland) is about 50-50 on having the physical room to add 10-20 feet to the fence.
Crest, Huss, forestview -- cant see anyway these 3 could move their fences at all. crest and huss back into roads and forestviews tennis courts are just beyond the right field fence.

North Gaston, Ashbrook, south point.have the room, but Ashbrook would have to take away from their football practise field. NG is just getting bathrooms at the sb field - still no batting cage or permenant bleachers. SP would be best equipped to move their fence
    (havent seen Kings mtns field)

    other gaston schools
east gaston -- already on a 300' field so they are good
bessemer city i also havent seen in awhile.
    cherryville -- rooms there
    highland -- idk

The more I read the more I believe the best solution might be changing the ball.

Whatever the solution, it needs to be done soon!
