    Interesting that the Red Sox think more of a local player - Tyler Barnette drafted in the 9th round by the Red Sox had an 8-2 record and 100 strikeouts this season for Hickory High.

    Good point! These things are hard for sure. You could see on TBR where the Observer writer posted a plea to hear from coaches and there were numerous schools/coaches who hadn't bothered with nominations. Stats are only one measure. It's hard to compare small private school stats against SW4A competition for example. I think they should have a couple of slots for pitchers to give relievers some fair notice.
