I know a couple of the Region 5 coaches - class guys. And yes, congratulations... but...

The team had 3 - count them 3 - reclassified juniors. Three players who transferred to private schools as seniors and then dropped back to the 11th grade participated on the Region 5 team. So it wasn't really all underclassmen competing against underclassmen. I would wonder how many other regions had this "luxury".

OK, now I'll take the criticism...

To my knowledge, yes. Pitchers. Either way, is it right?

I don't like the rules allowing reclassification. It gets abused often in cities like Charlotte. But what can you do? I don't want to prohibit anybody's opportunity to compete in State Games. The age difference may not matter because the reclassified player may have started school early, but I agree that it doesn't seem right.

I wish I did it with my son though. He wouldn't have had to go into his senior year after surgery.

I do not see any "reclass" guys mentioned in the notes above. Did those "reclass" guys somehow hold Region 6 to 2 hits? I don't think so. Did those "reclass" guys hit a 2-run home run? I don't think so. Did those "reclass" guys hit the go ahead rbi double? I don't think so. The rules are the same for every region whether you like it or not. Don't try and take a wonderful experience away from the kids that worked hard to win this event. I'm sure Region 6 has never had a "reclass" kid with all of the private schools in the Charlotte area.

How did Charlotte get tabbed??? Correct me if I am wrong but Region 6 didn't have any players from a private school this year according to their roster.

The guy that brought up the subject is from your region....not Charlotte. So I doubt he was raising this issue as an excuse for Region 6 not winning.

Personally, I could care less who wins, I just like to hear about the players, but he brought up an interesting topic that should be able to be discussed civilly without pot shots. If you don't agree, fine, but there is no reason to slam another area especially since the issue was brought up from yours.

The question was raised about players transferring to reclassify. Was the question referring to State Games only?

Can't we have a civil discussion on "hot topics" without somebody getting offended. One can agree or disagree, but if the board can't discuss topics, it becomes a very boring site.

The only thing I have ever asked is if you have a bone to pick, don't mention names.

Looks like it would be simple to limit varsity participation to 8 semesters. It should be a mutually(public/private) effective rule.
