Runners on 2nd and 3rd, slapper at the plate. Slapper pounds the ball into the dirt down first base line (like she was supposed to). Girls on 2nd and 3rd take off on the slap. 1st basewoman makes a good play snagging the ball and tagging 1st for the out then fires ball home. Girl from 3rd slides in safe and ball gets by the catcher and rolls to the fence. Girl from 2nd comes in and scores.

How many RBIs does the slapper get?

I would say 1 RBI. The second runner scored on an throw/error.

I like to give credit where credit is due. We call our slappers triple threat because they create havoc for the defense and generally force errors to happen. I would credit the slapper with two RBI's because the runs came off of her at bat regarless of how many errors the defense makes. it remains her at bat until the ball becomes dead.

......ok, same scenario, runners on 2b and 3b but now the batter is a righty, she hits it to 1B who tags first for the out, runner from 3b scores, BAM! wild throw home that lets the original kid on 2b to score.

Do you give the batter 2 RBIs?

I don't know, but like all of us TBR honks, I've got my opinion and it has nothing to do with a leftie or a righty.....I'd give 2 RBIs, score it 3-3, put out, E-3 on the throw home.

Now my question is if the ball thrown from the 1B to the catcher, a perfect BB, and the catcher charlie browns the catch, who gets the error?

    See Thread above. lol

has to go E-2 if first base makes good throw.

either way its 3ua (unless 1st base throws the ball to herself???)

    there is no 2nd rbi.

no way can someone score from 2nd on a ball that stays in the infield without at least one error.

the 1st rbi is dependent on where the ball is fielded. if the throw SHOULD have got the runner out there is no rbi at all and both runs score e2 (poor catch) or e3 (poor throw)

unless of course the runner bowls over the catcher and knocks the ball from her glove or hand -- then im not sure how to score the 2nd run

Even though my DD is a slapper, I would say (1) rbi and error on the catcher.

In JC's scenario I think you'd look at the AB as a sac. Batter gets no RBI on a fielding error. That's another play.

    1 RBI.

These runners scoring from second are coming home on extensions of the play (in this case, the throwing error), not because of the hit ball. If the play is clean, the runner (now at third) doesn't even try to come home, so it's not because of the hitter that she scores that last 60 feet.

There is no way in the world the runner coming in from second ever gets the batter an RBI on ball staying on the infield. She dribbles one through the infield and the runner gets home, then maybe, but with the smaller dimensions in softball, it's just so rare to score from second on any single.

I love it when parents try to score games. You are too close to the players to be objective.
