My son is a 2011 grad and is a good catcher I've had a coulpe different people tell me that he could easily play div II ball and maybe even div I if he polished a few more things. He was recently invited to play at the Battle of The Boarder Showcase so I thought that someone else out there has noticed that he is a good player to receive an honor like that to play with those guys but he doesn't play showcase ball and does not get seen like alot of the other guys but we have not heard from any schools at all and I am looking to see if you guys could give me some suggestions.
    Thanks

First of all it's way to early to have any concerns. What are your son's plans for the fall? Listen, here it is in July and schools are still recruiting 2010's....as well as 11's

The best thing you can do is have your son play on the best baseball team he can find that play in well attended showcase tournaments. It only takes one good weekend and a school looking for a catcher to be on their radar.

Freddy Suggs has many good teams and is an excellent resource. I'm sure he will invite your son to participate in one of his tryouts. The one thing that will happen is Freddy will give you a true "evaluation" of your son's ability, and if he projects to the college level. He will give you an honest evaluation without bells and whistles. If he believes your son can play at the next level, he will make sure it happens.

There is not a college coach in the SE that doesn't listen to Freddy's recommendations.

He is a member of this board, so send him a PM: Freddy Suggs

Freddy is having a showcase at Pfeiffer University on August 14 and 15. He is using this showcase to pick his teams for the fall. Check out his website at www.ccpospects.net

Most schools are just starting actively recruiting 2011 grads. The General Assembly's new position on in-state v out-of-state tuition has a LOT of folks re-shuffling. I'd not despair about the interest level at this point in time.

Keep all your options open, including junior college. Don't get caught up with D1. JUCO can be a great option if you don't get the looks or offers you want.

go to www.ccprospects.net and click on the link "recommend a player". Fill out the form and make sure you check that you want to try out for the team. Freddy will ive an honest evaluation and maybe have a spot. He is looking for arms (aren't we all :) )

Good luck!! If you have any questions regarding how Freddy operates, you can contact me. I have known Freddy for years and have also coached with him. I wouldn't hesitate to send my players to play for him!
