    Charlotte 13
    Hickory 8

Both pitchers were shaky at the start (Rautenstrauch for Charlotte and Poole for Hickory).
Hickory hit two homeruns but committed five errors. 16 hits for Charlotte and 17 for Hickory.

Charlotte leads series 2-0. Game 3 Friday at Myers Park.

Cherryville definitely knows how to win in the playoffs. they finish the season 3-4 and then rattle off five straight including 2 against a team that was 17-3 and had won its last 10. Tonight, they brought the bats with 17 to 19 hits, depending on which scorebook you want to follow, and a complete game on the mound. Huntersville's misplays didn't help. Gotta like their chances against Caldwell or Shelby in the next round as long as they finish the job in this series. Also shows how strong the baseball is in the west. Six of the eight teams in the quarters from the West, and it looks like Charlotte may be the lone East survivor for the semis. Charlotte seems to know how to outlast the other guy. They have a good shot at winning the region.

Cherryville 9 Bad news Bears 3

Errors were plentiful for the Bears. The Cherryville pitcher threw 14 pitches last night and 143 tonight for a 2 day total of 157 pitches and still threw very well. Get the ice ready.:N1ImwaitingHL:

I"ll go with the book that shows 13 hits and 7 errors that allowed 6 unearned runs. Needless to say you guys still out played our horrible defense. You do make the plays when you need to.

Who ever keeps that book must have went to score keeping college. Would love to meet them in person. That book was exactly right. Bet no one else had a book that showed the score at 9-3.

157 pitches is to many for anybody...

143 pitches is way more than any teenage ball player should ever throw. not to take anything away from the cherryville pitcher, also the coaches son, because he did throw a great ball game. but i disagree with the decision to let his son stay in the game that long, espically knowing he threw the night before also. there is a strong line between competiveness and the saftey of a player/child.

    Cherryville @ Huntersville Game 3

Just heard on the radio that tonight's game has been cancelled. The announcers said they were told that everything that happened so far tonight will be washed clean and that Game 3 will start all over tomorrow from scratch.

Also, they reported that the Hickory #48 vs. Charlotte #262 being played at Myers Park HS is currently in a delay due to storms.

    Charlotte 10
    Hickory 6

    WP: Weymann
    LP: Lafone

Well, if you left during the rain/storm delay, the final score is a shocker. Hickory pitcher Markley was pitching a gem. His only mistake was a homerun by Jackson Reisterer (same pitcher, same batter as Wednesday night). Hickory led 6-1 in the bottom of the 6th (Charlotte only had 4 hits at that time) when lightning forced a delay. When play resumed, Charlotte scored 2 - chasing Markley from the game. Finally the Charlotte bats woke up. In the final 3 innings (6th-8th), Charlotte scored 9 runs on 8 hits and 4 Hickory errors.
Charlotte relievers Gordan and Weymann shut down the Hickory bats. Hickory only managed 2 hits off these two guys after the delay.

Charlotte wins the series 3-0 and will host Rutherfordton Tuesday night.
