Heard Wilson-Johnston beat Crystal Coast this morning in a 18s loser bracket game.

This would mean Triangle plays Wilson-Johnston tomorrow at 4:00pm in an elimination game. The winner would turn around and play again at 7:00pm. Haven't seen the bracket today to know what exactly is going on. CP16 probably has more info.

CP16's beat Triangle 6 to 1. CP came out very flat and struggled vs Triangles soft throwers. Chad Briley (N. Pitt, 2012) throw a complete game 2 hitter. 1 Run unearned with 10 K's. He faced the min. for 6 innings getting two 6-4-3 double plays. Leading hitters for Cp16's Logan Sutton (JH Rose 2011) 2 for three with a 2b and 1b. John Hickner (JH Rose, 2012) two for three with a HR and 1B. CP wins the best out of three two games to none.

The 16-18 CP's were waiting out the rain to start there winners bracket final vs Albermarle when we left.

Baller: Only two players from last years team are on the older squad. We had a new team join and win the league. There team makes up a large percentage for the older guys. Most of last years squad played legion this summer. Our league does not allow duel partipation like some do.

Just got a update from Fremont CP 16-18's up 10-1 after 5 innings.

I was at the same Triangle-CP 16 game today. When I left after the game concluded, the score was 5-1 not 6-1, the CP pitcher threw an excellent game, having good command of his curve ball, not walking anyone, only 1 HBP and gave up only 4 hits and 1 earned run, not 2 hits and 0 earned runs.

Sorry FFalcons I was going off word of mouth of asst. coach with no scorebook. The CP pitcher was dominant. I know going into the 7th
he had faced 18 batters. 1 hit and 1 HP erased both by double plays.
It was pretty hard for cp kids to get excited today after yesterdays blowout.

    In the 18's bracket...

Triangle plays Wilson-Johnston today at 4pm. Loser is done. Winner plays again at 7:00pm vs Albemarle in another elimination game. Coastal Plains awaits the winner tomorrow on Championship Day and must be beaten twice.

Atleast thats the way I am understanding things right now.

    18's:

    4:00pm Losers Bracket Game:
    Triangle - 9
    Wilson-Johnston - 1

    7:00pm Losers Bracket Final:
    Triangle - 5
    Albemarle - 0

The Triangle 18s got two complete game wins from Garrett Estes (Louisburg College) in Game 1 and Brett Deacy (Cardinal Gibbons '10) in Game 2. Deacy threw 64 pitches in Game 2 and got help from 6 Albemarle double plays.

    Championship Day:
Coastal Plains is undefeated and just has to win one.
Triangle must beat Coastal Plains twice.

First game is scheduled for 5:00pm and the "if" game would follow.

The winner advances to the SE Regionals in Lewisburg, TN beginning July 22.

EastofRaleigh - Jr Legion has been hurting Triangle Sr Babe Ruth since 98. At it's peak around 2000, Triangle had 12 teams in the league, and is now down to 4 teams. Cary Post 67 formerly sponsored a Babe Ruth team (which acted as their Jr Legion team) but that stopped in 98. North Wake County Baseball Association used to field two very stong teams in the league prior to Jr Legion taking off, and NWCBA eventually fielded up to 4 teams but have not entered any teams in the league for the past two seasons.

This year we had teams from Town of Cary, Franklin County (two teams) and South Granville AA.
The SGAA team was roughly 2/3 16's and formed the nucleus of the Triangle 16s tournament team.
The 18s team drew primarily from Cary and Franklin County. I believe Michael Forsythe is the only SGAA representative on the 18s.

Fuquay-Varina, Orange County, Oxford, City of Raleigh, Ravenscroft High School, Northern Vance and Southern Vance have all had teams in Triangle in the recent past but not within the past three years. Most are playing Jr Legion, Tar Heel league, summer high school league, showcase, etc.
Without a renewed interest I honestly don't know how long Triangle will continue to exist.

Great job JM, and thanks for keeping us posted! I will get your updates on the league website.

Edit- in typical Babe Ruth network fashion, the news event editor is not working. I will add game summaries when it is functional.
CP16, do you mind if I use some of your summary information for the 16's?
