Kellie Beres 2011 pitcher/outfielder from Greenville, NC just committed to Gardner-Webb University. Kellie signed as a pitcher and will be a major contributor to the Bulldogs. Kellie had two other D-1 opportunities but chose the Bulldogs after evaluating all the aspects of college education and athletics. She has played on two teams that finished 7th in ASA Nationals, a state champion, and in two Boulder tourneys in which she proved she can compete at the top level on the mound and in the field and at bat. The Blues are proud of your efforts! You go Girl!

    The Little Engine That Could

Kellie, Congrats on your commitment to attend and play softball for Gardner-Webb and Coach Cole. Your hard work has really paid off nicely. When I first laid eyes on you a little over 2 years ago, my first thought was, "why does Rodney have this little squirt out here on the big girl team?" But boy did you prove me (as well as many others) wrong. Your determination to excel and achieve your goal has rewarded you in a big way. You are proof that you don't have to be 5'10"+ to be a very effective pitcher at the highest levels of the competitive softball world. Spaino and I look forward to not only following you at the next level, but competing against you as well. Enjoy your senior season at J.H. Rose. Congrats again, and see you at practice Saturday!! :19:

Greg and Wendy. Congrats to the proud parents as well. Its been a pleasure to get to know you guys and travel the U.S. playing and coaching together. No more stressing out. Just time now to play ball and enjoy the rest of the ride. Thanks for your huge support of the Lady Blues, and for making those 3 1/2 hour drives to practice every weekend. I'm sure you look forward to watching all those GW games with the Softball Guru at your side. Right Guru?? (Hey Guru, what is your new screen name? Ha.)

Rodney. Great job in seeing the huge upside potential of Kellie. Hope to see you at the ballfield very soon. Congrats.

    FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Way to go Kelly!! The entire Simmons family is proud of you and your accomplishments. You will be a great asset to GW as you were everywhere you played. We've had a lot of fun times on and off the field with you and your family, traveling with the Blues. Greg, sit back, relax and enjoy the ride, withdrawal symptoms take about 12 months to completely dissipate.
    Have Fun at GW!!

Way to go Kellie! Greg and I coached together several years ago and I'm excited to see Kellie fulfill her dreams. I know how hard you guys work. Our older daugthers played with and against each other over the years. Congrats to a wonderful family!

    Best of Luck

    Congrations Kellie!
Big things come in small packages. Keep the hard work up and nothing but great things will come. Good luck at GW!
We've had alot of fun travelling all over the country with you and your Dad and Mom. Gonna miss hanging out on the fence in the outfield with your Dad - which was always insightful and full of softball wisdom and Genius. BUT - Wendy, ya done good! I know that Gregg will take credit but we all know that YOU are the brains and heart of the operation! :)

    Viva Las Vegas!!!!
