I strongly suggest that you go to this website. http://hsbaseballweb.com/recruiting_tips.htm

It is the best website that deals with college baseball recruiting.

I’ll try to answer your other questions:

-There is nothing binding about a commitment. Not until the National Letter of Intent is signed before it is binding. And I must mention that even the NLI’s are facing legal questions regarding minors. An argument has been made before the NC court that minors and their parents/guardians can’t enter an agreement involving a financial matter without a judge’s approval. It’s used in the entertainment business and an attorney has successfully made the same argument about an NLI. It is very rare in baseball to hear of a player or coach take back their commitment. Baseball is all about commitment and it doesn't stop on the baseball field.

Now you may wonder why a kid would make an early commitment. It’s because they will be attending the school of their dream and received a tremendous offer. In most cases, it’s a full scholarship. There was no need to wait.

    - The concern with HS coaches is many don’t get involved at all. However, that is changing quickly. More and more are becoming proactive in the recruiting process. But the single most important element with a HS coach is the credibility they have with a recruiter. If they have developed a relationship, then they will be helpful. If not……

But most coaches get contacted at some point just to get a character reference---a recruiter already has formed an opinion about the player's skills

I learned something last year from Coach Allen Osborne, Associate HC of Georgia. “Coaches want to be wooed.” They want to know that you want to go to his school.

Spend some time navigating around that site I posted. It’s a tremendous resource for recruiting

Braves, I would add this website to a great read... it covers all sports and breaks it down so it's easy to digest...

Baseball is different than most sports. When you make a verbal committment, your word is your honor. There may be odd and understandable circumstances that arise for you to break your verbal, but it is seen as solid amongst the baseball community... so there better be a very legit reason for not honoring the verbal. Explore every avenue you may have interest in before giving your verbal.

The old saying... don't say no till you have a yes in your pocket....

    Grey Wordsworth

Its official, Grey Wordsworth of JH Rose has committed to App. State. The flame-throwing right hander made the call today. I'm looking for big things out of Grey in the coming years and will monitor his progress closely. With the help of an actual pitching coach, Grey has made alot of progress this summer with his pitches. CONGRATS Grey!!!!
