What would you do to a coach who lures a player to their team during the season?

The roster status of a player shouldn't be important in a showcase--right? The goal of a showcase is not who wins; it is to showcase the players--right?

There could be agreements between organizations to handle what it mutually agrees to call violations. Independents could be a part of those agreements. But to do any of that there would have to be cooperation between the various entities. That kind of unity does not exist and until it does it's everyone for themselves.

It comes down to opinions of who and what is ethical. What one parent or coach sincerely considers being the best he/she can do for their player(s) can be considered by another as unethical.

Often the thought is if I do it, it's righteous; if they do it, it's selfish.

With all the hate I sense in some of these posts how in the world do the teams involved compete against each other in an atmosphere of sportsmanship? Who are the eventual victims of these issues? The players!

my largest exposure to this came a couple of years ago at a tournament in rock hill. standing next to a couple of college coaches, i noticed a certain tb coach picking up player profiles from the tables.....i looked at one of the college coaches, who asked the coach why and he plainly stated he was shopping for next years team.......pretty blatant to me....

but braves is right, been going on forever, and will continue to happen as long as you let it happen.....

the players do suffer, but i believe the players who suffer the most are the ones who are left behind when others are recruited off of their team...

I agree with all this. I have always noticed the biggest turnover in players are right after a big showcase in Rock Hill. Profile sheets are being used by more than college coaches.

    what a trip!

....this is! CMon parents, its not a coach problem its a YOU problem!

You pay the bills, you pay for her car, glove, insurance, travel expenses RIGHT?

OK, then Man up and teach your kid another lesson in life....by example of putting these coaches in their place period!

    It takes two to tango.

If you're not part of the solution, then you're part of the problem.

    ....and another thing...

...now that i'm on my soap box, ....I'll take the "leftover" kids, ie the ones who were not lured to another team, and with these "leftover" kids, I promise you all that we will beat these "lured elite" kids, 9 times out of 10, if not everytime we play them.

No slander to HS math teachers who give their time to help coach JV basketball, volleyball, etc. but we all know that they are very good folks with pretty much no clue of the game.
Then we have the "good coaches", the ones who have a son or DD who rocks, and builds a team around them. These are the guys who make the lineups and have no clue about "on field management".

Then theres the "so-called great coaches" who in actuallity are derived from the fact that their team is stacked! Bam! Thats the very reason why these mooks who thrive in the spotlight, lure kids to their team....because they have no idea how to win without awesome talent.

Then we have the real "great coaches", these are the folks who can take a kid and make them better.

These are coaches who will take you apart by the smallball bunting game.

I'm not a "great coach", but my father was, and he taught me just enough to understand what the differences are!

    Peace.

    I agree with Fish!

What's needed is to enlighten your parents and players that they might be approached by "recruiters." Make the parents aware of "known recruiters" and what they may offer. After that, it becomes free choice!

I've observed how bringing a player in and benching a "regular" player has a negative effect on a team. I've also observed how it feels to lose a key player. Both of those situations are more negative than positive.

What would be great is a blacklist of coaches who do this. If a coach shows up on enough lists pretty soon they wouldn't need to be on the list.

Send me some names--I'll help get the word out; and/or try to get them to see the error of their ways.

Until each travel ball team coach has an athletic director to oversee their actions and sport information director to capture and post honest stats.... this will always be present...

At the collegiate level, you have the ability to make better informed decisions
during your recruitment period........as long as you are diligent and informed when doing your research.....
Once your there.....it will cost allot more than a $15.00 id to move on....

Can't wait to meet the person or group who figures out how to police this....
while you at it.... could you also eliminate all wars, disease, and the Jonas Bros....

I say ban them for life but in reality no way to do it. There is one coach who post on here a lot that is really bad about sneaking around trying to lure players away from other teams but he is praised on here quiet often. ????
