i've sat back and read the responses here and i'm really shaking my head in dismay.....

so, some of you are telling me that its perfectly ok for another coach to approach my players during the season to offer them the moon to leave my team. we're talking about a player on my team who i've spend countless hours training, understanding, focusing and teaching the game to for little or no pay. you're talking about taking probably my top player away with bs promises that you probably wont keep and in doing so will utterly destroy my current team and all the players left behind. and its not me i'm worried about, its the kids left behind....remember them??? probably not, as you were just concerned about one.

so, what the hell are you really teaching this kid and her family???? that its ok to break a committment and leave just for the hell of it??? that the friendships they made on this current team dont mean a damn thing and its ok to leave your teammates behind with little or no thought for them for the rest of the season.

and you people wonder why you have parents who are border line nuts and players who run from team to team to team leaving carnage in their wakes and broken dreams among the other girls left behind who honor their committments and yearn to form friendships for an eternity.

in MY opinion, the vote on this should be so lopsided that it isnt funny.

remember what this is all supposed to be about???? teaching these kids life lessons for the good things, remember: FRIENDSHIP, HONOR, COMMITTMENT. remember those things??? and doing this kind of thing isnt good for anyone.....just ask some of the girls who have been lured away with broken promises or that have found out it aint greener on the other side of the fence.

in my opinion, the bums who do this should never, never be allowed to coach any youth sports again, simply because they've lost sight of the real reason why you coach kids..........anyone remember what that was???? or are you too caught up your own glory like these coaches are??"

now this is my opinion, and i formed that opinion by going through the same crap from the same people being discussed here. it might get me banned, i might not be a mod tomorrow, but these people cant deny that they've been doing this for some time now....and currently they're trying to do this to some good teams out there for their OWN personal gain and glory, and for some, personal wealth. do everyone a favor and retire....or get honest again if thats possible...either one will do for me...

stop putting these coaches on your shoulders... maybe for once, look down at their feet to see who they stomped to get to where they are today....

The poll was flawed for you to come to that conclusion. It was either execution or buy him a beer and nothing in between.

....BANNED?..Hell no, I say bring it brother like no other!! You're post is dead on right and I'm with you 100%.

When my DD was in TB, if another team wanted her to play a fill in role, then she would play, and the hell with what the rules were. One showcase in Rock Hill, she played for our team and then played in the next game for another, when she went to the bathroom to change jerseys in the stall, she over heard some cackling mouthy women saying..."that kid played X, hit Y, and then played Z this that and the other". When she stepped out of the stall, the mothers saw her and damn near dropped their jaws with guilt by the fact that they, as adults, were slinging snot about a kid who just wanted to play period.
it upset my DD, but I'll bet those women looked themselves in a mirror sooner or later and did not like what they saw.

This game is for the kids....let them play it and they will be fine.

oh btw, my DD went 10 for 10 that showcase and .....................................................uuhhh just kiddin!

    Cool thread.

i see your point, but i personally dont believe that we need coaches who constantly do this or set this example for the players to follow. as one member suggested, i'm not saying a player should stay with the same team for her career.......its all in the timing, you just dont leave in the middle of a season to go to a better team....

...again, I'm with you 100% cheezePal.

Now that I'm here let me add this........JMO any coach who goes behind the back of another can KMA!

I know of one instance that this crap went on and fist flew in front of the kids.

I know two things about that gig, one....the kids don't need to see BS like that, and two.....That SOB got what he deserved.

    Peace!

    I'm done with this thread.

I didn't vote because I was unsure what "lured" meant; or at least how they were lured. Of course, in season, it isn't good, anyway.

Now, if players are lured to another team by false promises it doesn't matter what part of the season it is.

This thread also makes one think about why a player chooses which team. For example, if a player has a choice of playing for a team that pays for everything or playing with a team that helped develop her what would be the right choice? Money talks, BS walks!

Back when I was even more naive than I am now I used to fancy teams keeping the same players from 10- or 12U all the way through the end of their eligibility. Warm and fuzzy thought, I guess, but it doesn't work that way.

Agree with you Cheez. I have seen tb coaches stand behind the dugouts at the Cardinal Classic talking to players while they are playing. One time our coach had to literally ask a coach to get the heck away during the game. Everytime I see this coach I want to kick his a**.

My guess is that the split opinions on this subject represent the difference in views of coaches vs. parents on this forum. I'm not a coach. I'm a parent and I want my daughter's options of who she can play for as wide open as possible.

We've move teams in the past but only after careful investigation of the target team which included talking to current and former players/parents and understanding the make up of the team and how my daughter would fit in. This is an IMPORTANT decision. Would you buy a service from someone simply based on their promises of what it will do? I sure hope not. You'd check into the claims and the reputation of the company before making a decision. Why would you treat choosing a softball org any differently.

Parents willing to move teams based simply on promises without investigating are playing craps with their time and their kid's future. Remember two basic principles of buying:

    1. "if the offer sounds too good to be true, it likely is."
    2. "if it's a good deal today, it will be a good deal tomorrow"

IMO, the answer is a more educated, aware parent/player community.
