Had a once in a lifetime chance to take my wife, my two boys, and a good friend to watch Madison pitch on Tuesday night. The poise and maturity that he shows is incredible. Watching Madison and Buster Posey work together was awesome to see.

I know it was a very special moment for his dad Kevin. You never see Kevin on here bragging because he doesn't need to. To watch Madison pitch in a national spotlight was a culmination of all the hard work and travel invested in Madison's development by his dad. I couldn't be happier for Kevin. He is one of my best friends. We joke, we cut up and have fun, but it is really cool to see him bask in the success of a night like Monday night. Best of luck to Madison and many atta boys to Kevin for what he did behind the scenes.

It was truly a night I will never forget.

    Interesting Facts

Madison Bumgarner (age 21) became the youngest Giants pitcher to win a postseason game and the second-youngest starting pitcher to win a series clincher.

Youngest Starter to Win Series Clincher in Postseason History

    Fernando Valenzuela 1981 Dodgers 20 yrs-352 days
    Madison Bumgarner 2010 Giants 21 yrs-72 days
    Bret Saberhagen 1985 Royals 21 yrs-199 days
    Jaret Wright 1997 Indians 21 yrs-281 days
    Whitey Ford 1950 Yankees 21 yrs-351 days

Madison was fantastic in his last nine regular-season starts and was again great in Game 4. On Monday, he had his highest average fastball velocity (93.4 MPH according to Inside Edge video data), and got hitters to chase his fastball more frequently than in any start in his brief career and his dad Kevin wasn't calling the balls and strikes this time. What a great future he has.

While Kevin was not calling balls and strikes, I can assure you that he was behind homeplate "assisting" the umpire--not that Madison needed it:cucumber::N1yeeaah:

    Great job!

I always heard this kid could hit it a country mile. Has he had any bombs in the bigs? Does he even work on hitting any more?
