    who's on 1st here--

Since travel ball is winding down and schools have had workouts for the kids(if they went). What's your prediction for your kids conference/team. I don't have a kid in high school softball but love to follow the sport.

Also, which is the toughest conference (most competitive) in each division (1A-4A). I know that most conferences have some weaker teams, but surely there has to be a couple conferences that standout.

    Heres a start:

4A I say Alexander Central, Lake Norman (North Davidson)

3A I like Fred T Foard in the 3A, they have one of the top pitchers in the sate, and one of the best second basemen/leadoff hitters ive seen. Also some other travel ball players that will contribute alot. If they can score 2-3 runs a game they will be very tough to beat. (East Rowan, Robinson)

Thanks for the reply. That wasn't really the question, but it's a start.

In the Mideastern 4A, Laney should be tough again. They lost two seniors last year, and had a sophmore that transfered. They return the Mideastern 4A Conference Player of the Year from 2010.

The South Piedmont Conference in 3A will be tough this year. Most of the top teams return starting pitchers and good talent coming in. With Mt. Pleasant, JM Robinson, Central Cabarrus, NW Cabarrus, Hickory Ridge, Concord and Cox Mill in the mix, no in conference game will be a given this year.

    Early predictions

    EEEEEEEEEEEEEarly to say.... but

    1A East Surry

    2A East Randolph

    3A SW Randolph

    4A AC

I guess this is the same old song over and over. There will always be some new kids on the block to challenge but look for these to be there at or near the end.

OK i'm done w/ high school but i'll weigh in on this.

1A East Surry has lost Hailey Shelton so i'll say this will finally be Swain County's year. Furman bound Shelby Parker is very good and other than Kayla Myers i think she's got most of her crew back including the best name in softball Bop Walkingstick
2A gotta go w/ Eastern Randolph Heaton is back w/ a full complement
3A going to say East Rowan here Elon bound Chelsea White and the majority of her cast (including a FREAK) are ready to take the mantle and how many times can SW reload, but i do hear the Foard girl is the real deal
4A tough here, ND lost ALOT watch for Laney to be good, and the usual suspects Butler, North Meck, etc. but watch for Lake Norman which i understand was young last year.....but it should all have to go through AC...love em or hate em....they're always good

My vote goes to a North Davidson repeat. Been seeing what they have been doing in the off season. Both coaches and players. They will be ready to defend.
