Well i can honestly say i don't know alot about her. Pretty sure she was at least all district last year and maybe all state too. But have seen her play a couple of times and she looks like the type of kid that plays all out. Maybe Thunderbird or one of the mountain guys can fill us in, but how freaking cool is that name??

East Central 2A is one of the tougher 2A conferences in the state. 3 of the last 5 years it has been represented at Walnut Creek. Last year in the playoffs only one of the 5 teams that made the playoffs was eliminated by a non conference team, the others were knocked out by fellow conference schools. That has been the scenario for the last 3 years.

    Predictions

1A - East Surry - Don't count them out so fast. While they may have lost their pitcher that led them to those state championships over the last several years, they have not lost all their pitching. There is a very impressive young lady at East Surry that not only pitches but carries a mean bat, and lets not forget the BIG bat of Julianna Bullington. I think we might all be pleasantly surprised to see East Surry take the State Championship again.

    - OR - If East Surry doesn't pull off another repeat, I look to Midway to finish what they started last year.

2A - While Heaton does, indeed, return to the mound, they have lost Jessica Gordon - MVP pitcher of the State Championship, not to mention a great bat in the hands of Kailey Hill. Codie Rhodes returns as a force to be reckoned with at 3B and at the plate, definitely a plus. But without Gordon to pitch behind Heaton and the bat of Hill, I don't think we see this team repeat.

The 2A is up for grabs and it is definitely way too early to hazard a guess on this one.

3A - I am giving this one to Western Harnett. These girl are hungry for a State win. Knocked out of State Playoffs by SW Randolph in the final game before Walnut Creek, this team was young last year and that inexperience led to their demise. This year, a stronger, seasoned team returns to the field nearly intact after graduating only 1 senior. The team returns with three seniors in Womble, Womack and Holmes, who carry between them 90 runs and 73 RBI's over the course of last season. Two-thirds of the returning team have played the travel rounds this year, and the off-season conditioning the team has undergone will only assist to their goals.

Should Western not prevail, I am throwing my money on Ledford with Murphy holding down the mound and Everhart on SS, or Jack Britt with McKenzie Weaver on the mound, helped out by the big bat and stellar 3rd base presence of Jesse Crist.

4A - I suspect the days of N Davidson are over...at least for this year. While Alexander Central, a force to be reckoned with, is likely to prevail this year...I also like the chances of Eastern teams Garner, and West Johnston. Garner returns Christina Gowan to the mound and with some top notch players, such as the stellar Mary Scott Powell in the outfield, while West Johnston sees Lexi Betancourt return for her final year on the mound, supported by outstanding players such as Dupree and Gibbons.

Well said justsoftball, always good to hear from the eastern side of the state. I just don't know enough about them to give a good enough opinion other than the few i stated.
We'll just have to wait and see :)

    Hazardous guess

I will make a guess on 2A....last year, everyone was surprised that Central Davidson made it back to the Creek after losing Ms. Leonard. While I realize that they lost a big stick, I would be surprised if CD isn't hanging around to challenge ER again.

Robinson the defending champ will be tough and Jim Allen has most of his team back. Mount will be replacing several players but has some a couple strong players coming up and two experienced pitchers. Team to watch will be Cox Mill. They were really good for a first year school. Central will have a good cast with Mellena Helms and Taylor Fain leading their group.
