If your going with the 2012 rosters there are some talented teams....The Canes North are good, Dirtbags have not seen them play, On Deck O's Black is a good club, Heat has a good group as well, then there is the South Charlotte Panthers....Those teams are great 2012 teams

    Woodstock Summer 2011

The idea of the first Woodstock Showcase was to get all the teams to come and be a part of a fun event and to have some great matchups in a friendly atmosphere which for the most part was accomplished.......BUT what we really want Woodstock to turn into is a true North Carolina "State Series".....with the top 8 teams invited which will be seated by an unbiased committee.

There will be 4 Quarter-final games followed by 2 Semi-final games and then the State Championship Game. This could all be done in a one day shootout (midnight championship) OR over two days on the weekend. In addition a Pro Style workout could be had on Friday night or Saturday morning for the scouts to see all the kids at one time.

Talk about an exciting showcase!! I just wish all the teams in our state would say BRING IT ON BABY.

Interested? Sign up right here on TBR......your team name?

So really you want the Dirtbags to join the " CHARLOTTE GROUP "
instead of these teams going to Impact events ???

    Best of each organization

Sorry only 1 team per organization, so let's add say the Carolina Cubs, NCBA, Wilson Bulldogs or Lake Monsters to round out this bracket. Also this would be a NON PROFIT event as well and would be run totally independent of any and all groups!!

    Congrats

to the Dirtbags for a great accomplishment. The Canes have won a couple of WWBA events. And there are other great programs in this state as well. The SCP's have been very good for a long time and have done very well at these events. The Cubs made it to the championship game at a WWBA event last summer. The fact is there are many great programs and all should be proud of what they have accomplished over the years. The On Deck program develops players and gives them a special baseball experience. There are many more too many to name here without leaving someone out.

The main goal of every one of these programs is to assist their players in finding a place to play past the hs level of play. Of course they want to compete and they want to win. But lets be honest here these programs go out and select the best players they can find. Sometimes bringing in kids to pitch at these tourneys that have not played with them the entire year. Some get caught up in the competition or bragging rights stuff between these programs. So what have you earned if you get bragging rights? Bragging rights? Ok great you get bragging rights. You have successfully gone out and selected a better team than the guys your playing. Congrats!

Now, when you start taking kids of equal ability and you coach them and assist them in training and you then compete against each other and you come out on top that might be something to brag about. The college coaches are not concerned with which team is better. They are not recruiting teams. They are recruiting players. They could careless which team your son plays on. If they think he can help them win and they like him as a young man and he has the grades to get in their school then thats all that matters to them.

Maybe what needs to happen is a summer showcase league. All the players try out for the league. The players are drafted by the coaches and the talent is split up equally between the teams. The coaches then coach them up and the teams compete against each other on the weekends. At the end of the year the coaches select an All Star team to compete at WWBA events.

The showcase programs provide a vehicle for these players and then its up to them to show what they need to show. I have never allowed myself to get caught up in this we are better than you stuff. Its not about that. Its about the players and helping them find the right fit and expand their options for the next level. And allowing them to get the experience of competing against like minded players of equal or better ability. I know that doesn't stoke the fire of the Bragging rights folks. But thats not what this stuff is suppose to be about. But to each his own.

    a different angle

Showcase is fun and totally cool,
But don’t be tricked and be a fool.
Winnin’ is great and braggin’ is too,
But money’s a big reason they’re interested in you.

Coaches love the kids, and that never wanes,
Doesn’t really matter, Dirtbags or Canes.
They say” boy, you can play college ball”
“All we need is a check, that’s all”.

Ol’ Don down in Charlotte does it for free,
But he’s a rare bird, you don’t often see.
So bring your spikes and a big wad of cash,
Soon you’ll star at the “U”, and make a big splash.

There are flights to catch and rooms to rent,
Draining my savings, soon it’s all spent.
They say Perfect Game is the place to go,
Travel down south and put on a show.

All are good people, and nary a sinner,
There’s nothing wrong with being a winner.
Anglers, Panthers & the Cubs are champs, too,
Just don’t forget to bring your wallet with you.

Congrats to the winners, they’ve done it well,
What’s after Showcase, only time will tell.
The world’s a changin’ place and there is no doubt,
The game is much more than “three strikes, y’er out”.

Dont take this the way it sounds but who is good in the impact events? Dirtbags yes...I have heard the Cubs are splitting, Lake Monsters? then who? In the Charlotte group, all those teams are pretty solid. Very seldom do you see blowouts
