With the proper conditions, ie. runners on 1st and 2nd or bases loaded and less than two out, a pop fly is hit towards the middle of the infield which any infielder or the pitcher can easily make the play. Problem is the umpires get brain freeze and make no call. Is Infield Fly rule in effect?

    thank

infield fly is a judgement call since no call was made regardless of reason it is not in effect:drums:

Definition of the infield fly rule as per high school rules

    INFIELD FLY RULE
The only difference between an infield fly and any other fly is that the batter is out when it is declared, and the ball does not have to be caught. Because the batter is declared out the runners are no longer forced to run, but they may run if they wish, at the risk of being put out. If the ball is caught they must tag-up before running, the same as on any fly ball. If the ball is not caught they may run without tagging up, the same as on any fly ball.

If the umpires forget to call an obvious infield fly, the rule is assumed to have been called.

In FED the batter is out even if the infield-fly is not called and all plays that occur, stand as they resulted.
