WHAT'S THE FUTURE HOLD FOR HS BASEBALL??

I am getting more and more concerned about what might happen to high school baseball in the CMS schools. The upcoming year is going to be a disaster financially. There will be monumental cuts to the school budget, and I am afraid sports will be hit really hard in the greater Charlotte area.
Does anyone have this concern too? Also, does anyone have any insight that might make me feel a bit better that HS baseball will continue to exist?

I share your concerns - I am an educator and I can see large cuts looming on the horizon that will affect everyone both in the classroom and on the athletic fields. Education is 80% of the states budget. I also fear for what is going to happen at our state universities in terms of athletics, including baseball. I am a fiscal conservative, but these cuts are going to be devastating. Lets just hope the economy starts to turn around so we can stop the bleeding. It may be that the only way to keep some sports going will be to pay for participation or some other creative means. I do have faith in people being creative when times are hard.

 

There are some people that are already discussing some alternatives to HS baseball. I'll share some ideas when I get the time to make a lengthy post
