This thread is intended to keep your baseball mind active instead of going comatose with all the Holiday desserts you are going to eat.

The purpose is for you to state your opinion on a daily topic. Hopefully it will be interesting reading but remember if you want to comment on someone else's opinion please agree to disagree and avoid personal attacks as Luis will ban your A**.....let's have fun.

    November 20: Madison Bumgarner

Do you think that the Giants Manager Bochy should have left Madison in the game to pitch the 9th inning of the World Series game given the historic significance of a complete game shutout?

    no way!!!!!!!!!!!

Manager must do what gives team best chance of winning and not pad a star's resume. Not even a close call. Now, if the manager believed leaving him in gave the best chance of winning, then leave him in.

    November 21: Pete Rose

Is it really fair to continue to keep Pete out of the Hall of Fame?

He's the all-time hits leader! How does he not make it one day? He made a mistake. He's been raked over the coals for 20 years over this. I think its time to put him in, while he's still alive. Charlie Hustle should be in the Hall of Fame!

I loved Pete Rose as a kid coming up. He was my idol. I never slid feetfirst unless breaking up double plays. He played the game hard and is a legend. Pete screwed Pete though with his bigger than the game attitude. I believe he had a chance to come clean in 89 and didnt do so. So now he's like the broke old guy at the bar that tells ya how good he used to be.
But Pete has finally come clean. Is it honest? Sincere? Who knows. But last I checked, its the HOF, not the Hall of Morality.
Pete shoulda gotten the Michael Jordan treatment. Just Pete couldnt take a year off and go play basketball. Oh, you still think Michael took a year off for baseball just as a childhood dream? LOL, and I got some oceanfront property in Montana for ya.

Pete Rose as a baseball player is one of my all time favorites; and I, also, believe one's character should not be a reason to prevent a player from induction. It's about their accomplishments on the field.

However, this situation is much different than any other. It's not about just what Pete did to himself, but what he did to the game. He cheated it! He disgraced himself and he disgraced baseball. As a manager, he directly was involved in determining an outcome of a game--and he bet on it. Potentially, Pete could have destroyed the integrity of the game for the fans. People had no idea if the team they were cheering for wasn't being defeated because the manager was trying to win a bet. I don't care if Pete denies it or not, he already proved he is a liar. What he did goes beyond personal conflicts with drugs, felonies or any other crime. He cheated the game, his players and the fans for personal profit. That's why I can't forgive him for what he did.

Pete Rose is one of my all-time favorite ball players. Pete did break the rules of the game, I do think Pete thought at one time that he was bigger than the game, and the game bit him in the ass to let him know that no one is bigger than the game Is he sincere with his apologies now, we don't know nor will ever know. What we do know is that his career stats and accomplishments says that he belongs in. His accomplishments on the field is what should be why he is in or not in. We can go through the HOF list and probably 85 percent of them would be taken out if we start looking and searching for reasons. I believe that he has done his punishment and he belongs in.

Pete Rose has thumbed his nose many times.......

    He broke the "biggie', betting...........
He should pay, and his missing the Hall of Fame is his payment.
After he was accused, he avoided the issue, then he lied, then he tried to justify it, then he took the "others have done it" approach.
The guy was a great hitter, but quite frankly, he is no good. Certainly not a role model.

Life sentence! No chance of parole???????

As far as I know all of the evidence against Pete has never been made public? If the Commissioner has hard evidence that Pete bet AGAINST his own team then it should be made public and he should never get in! But knowing his personality, from watching him play and manage when I was growing up, its hard for me to imagine him ever betting against himself or his team. He's more likely to have a Clint Eastwood mentality " its one against four, looks like your outnumbered" (or something like that). If he bet on his own teams to WIN, then he has done his time and he should get in ASAP. Either show us the evidence or let him in! Quite a few murderers in this country don't get life sentences with no chance of parole!!
