December 24: Greatest Male Athlete in History

Who would you pick from this list?

    Pele
    Jim Thorpe
    Muhammed Ali
    Luis Worrell
    Michael Jordan
    Babe Ruth
    Jesse Owens
    Tiger Woods
    Wayne Gretzky
    Bo Jackson
    Jim Brown
    Michael Phelps

My choice would be Luis Worrell the greatest Olympic synchronized swimmer that ever lived.

    BIO:
Luis was born in the 1950's in Havana Cuba as the illegitimate son of Fidel Castro. His embarrassed mom hid little Luis for the first 16 years of his life in the bath tub. During these years Luis learned to become the worlds greatest male synchronized swimmer in history. At the 1968 Olympics he won 5 gold medals in the sport and he was also able to steal some gold medals which he traded for a USA swimmers uniform. With the outfit he was able to sneak past security and defect to the States. He has never been seen in public but rumor has it he lives under an alias in the southeast area of the United States. If you know of his exact whereabouts please email his dad Fidel Castro at [email protected]

Here is a picture of Luis and his partner Limpy Morton at the 1968 Olympics:

You make a good case for Luis Worrell, but I'd have to go with Michael Jordan on this one. All those NBA Titles, one NCAA Title, Olympic Gold, and even played some baseball along the way. Not bad for a North Carolina boy. My next choice would go to Jesse Owens. He ruined the Germany Olympics for Hitler back in the mid-30's, winning 4 Gold medals. All those other guys were the best in their sports at one time or another, but I'd have to go with Air Jordan. (Go Heels!)

    December 25: Santa Claus

Merry Christmas guys/gals of TBR. It has been a great year getting to meet a lot of you at the fields or getting to know you thru postings or emails. Seeing everyone at Woodstock was awesome and talking in the chat room daily with Braves, Doorway, 22, Diesel, Bonsway, Slide, Southern01, Amf and Limp is a blast. I wish everyone all the best for the 2011 season.

This will be the final edition of the Daily Rock as I am on vacation headed to NYC for the week.

What did Santa bring you? I got the 2010 Topps Baseball Card Set.

    December 26: Tattoos

What's everybody think about high-schoolers and ballplayers getting tattoos? I'm noticing a trend here recently where more & more young people are getting them. I've always thought that employers, coaches, and recruiters probadly thought negatively about seeing a tattoo on a prospect, but times are changing. Both my sons are in college now, and neither has ever wanted one, but I'm sure I would have said no if I had been asked. What do you think?

Only Stretchy--who hates cold weather--would go to NYC during a blizzard. I hope you brought a sled and toboggan.

What my kids do when they are adults and on their own is up to them, but while they continue to live under our roof, they will not have tattoos or ear piercings....so I left them with a choice :SPcheer006cheerbril:

    December 27: Designated Hitter

Where do you stand with the DH rule? American League has the DH, National League doesn't. Personally, I'd like to see the American League get rid of the DH, and start making the pitcher hit also. I think it adds to the strategy of the game.

I hate the DH. I'm with you KR - make the pitchers hit - though many are against that because they don't want their widdle pitchers to pull a hammy whilst they are running to first.

Stretchy left me detailed instructions for while he was on vacation. He said if nobody comments on any of my topics, I had his permission to use the failsafe: Which is better: Showcase or Legion?:argue: ( and allow cussing)
