Anybody have any comments about the NCHSAA's recommended format change for softball playoffs to go to best of 2 out of 3 at the regional and state level?

Maybe some "big" teams didnt like getting knocked out early due to the one and out style... ;D

Cant see how they can play all the games by the end of the year... It would double and potentially triple the number of games needed to get to the state finals. You couldnt even play the best of three at the same field unless it was a neutral field. With the cost cutting at many schools, this will never fly.

What would save money for the schools and make it more interesting to every level of team would be round robin pools played over a weekend to get the first couple of rounds taken care of, with the best 2 from each pool advancing. I never liked the one and out but not for the reason stated above, but pool games would let a lesser team play more than one game and save big on transportation costs. These would have to be played on neutral fields to be fair.

    2011-2012

Does that mean the new playoff format goes into effect this spring (2011)? ...or next spring (2012)?

Four game limit weekly regular season
Five game possible at state now
Six game possible at state in 2012

Would this add a third day at State?

UNC-G would be nice. Other good complexes around Greensboro.

Haven't seen anything any better than Walnut Creek around Charlotte area.

Walnut Creek is past due for remodeling for sure.

    NCHSAA should consider alternating venues...

...The year the west is the #1 seed, have the venue in the west. Asheville perhaps? the next year, when the East is #1 seed, have it closer to the coast. When the gas prices hit $4/gallon this year, have it smack in the dead center of the state, (geographically speaking, or as close to it as possible!) or even closer to Murphy, NC (as gas prices in the FAR west greatly exceed those East of Asheville!).
