Braves' Notes: I've asked Langston to start a new thread with this year's topics. It was popular last year and goes a long way in developing stories and relationships

Alright guys, it's y'all's time of year again, right?

I'm trying to hop on this huge train of knowledge over here early.

    Here are my questions:

Who are the teams we should consider for Sweet 16 and why?

Who are the best players we can profile? Who are the best players around?

Now you guys know I love my good human interest. Tell me a story my wife would read, and her mother would, too.

I appreciate the help. I'll check this post for responses and please don't PM me here. Shoot me an email at [email protected] or hit me at Facebook (facebook.com/langstonwertzjr)

Hope you all can "friend" me and follow my Twitter and that way we can easily communicate live scores, news and such betwixt and between.

I hope you all can help me be at all the right places. My plan this year is to give you all what you've been asking for: more, more and more.

    Help me do that.

I'll chime in later, but this is what everybody asked for and now have an opportunity to do something about it.

We have an opportunity to get the information to the Charlotte Observer about teams, players and stories...let's don't blow it. Post your info here.

I'd like to hear people's thoughts on the Top 16 teams...preseason players to watch. A great human interest story.

I think a good place to start would be to send him Minci's SW4A preseason write-up that is posted on this board. What better way for Langston to get real information from a reliable source. After reading that I wouldn't be surprised if Langston wouldn't offer Minci a part-time job as a HS Baseball beat writer for this area. Who better for the job!

    "Sweet Sixteen"

Northwest Cabarrus, the clear favorite in the SPC(3A), may be stronger than last years team. NWC was eliminated from the playoffs by eventual 3A State Champion East Rowan in a west region semi-final game that went down to the wire.

    Sweet Sixteen

While WEYCO's on the subject of the SPC I wouldn"t give Northwest the title just yet...2010 defending conf. co. champions from Mount Pleasant appear loaded. Mount Pleasant also went several rounds deep in playoffs and lost to the same East Rowan team that beat NW after leading them through four innings eventually losing a tight ball game to the 3A State Champs. In my opinion Mount Pleasant and Northwest are the preseason front runners in the SPC 3A.

Yes you have a point, however I base my opinion on the Trojans depth at pitching. MP has a fine program as well, didn't mean it as a "diss". Anyway 1 more day until practice begins!

Two teams come to mind that I think are among the best in the state. The defending 3A champs, East Rowan and Northwest Cabarrus.
East Rowan ended last year with a state championship and being nationally ranked by USA Today. They breezed through the state playoffs (only challenge was from NWC) with their ace Thomas Allen on the shelf until the state championship series. East returns a lot. All State pitcher Will Johnson returns along with State MVP Will Sapp. Alex Bost and Bradley Robbins also pitched in the state championship series return as well. East lost only 4 players off of last year’s 31-2 team. These guys always return in the spring bigger, faster, and better than they were the year before.
Northwest has Corey Seager. It could end there but, it doesn’t. Seagar is the best overall player in the state. He has committed to play at South Carolina and played on the National 16U team this summer. Northwest also has pitching with Rob Bain.
