Okay, I've gotten over the no cheerleaders at baseball games and I realize that baseball is a tradition-rich, pastoral game, but HS mascots are at every football and basketball game: Why not baseball?

We have a mascot for our summer college games and it brings in fans just because of it. In fact, when he doesn't appear, you feel like something is missing. I was just wondering why the school's mascot is not used--especially for the big games? It's a great way to entertain the students and kids and might increase attendance.

I nominate Stretchy to serve as the mascot for all Rocky Mount, Nash and Wilson schools. They already think he's a clown :waving:

Braves, it's because the poor kid who wore the costume during "Fall" football is still recovering from heatstroke!

    not a "revenue sport"

i thinking anything that doesn't detract from the game
    - should be considered.

this could be how the "walk-up" & between inning music started.

Even at schools that have a tradition of great baseball -
have a difficult time getting students to attend games.

These guys desearve to be supported by the schools population
-not just their parents or a few "girlfriends."

I think it really depends on the high school. East Rowan lines parents up from foul line to foul line. West Rowan does the same. Mooresville and Lake Norman have their fair share of fans attending every game, as well. I think it really depends on the winning tradition and how proactive the players are.

Every Mooresville player sends a mass text the day before and the day of a game. You'd be surprised how many good looking girls..I mean...people...this puts in the stands. Make sure the word gets out on game day.

As for mascots, I'm down to wear the suit when I'm not playing. Granted, since you couldn't see my face, I'd most likely be in trouble before the game started...

I don't know about other high schools but at my son's school there are days when baseball, softball, soccer and tennis play at the same time. This cuts down on the number of students at any one venue because they generally go see their friends play.
