Couldn't be happier for a deserving young man! I hope to see Brad Tuesday, still can't tell (work), if I can make it or not. Tell Brad to go easy on us.

Baseballx3, Brad is swinging the bat very well. My son Ryan Allen got his first stolen base and run scored of the season in a pinch running role. He is a freshman at Gardner-Webb and is fully recovered from Tommy John surgery from last spring. GW has the potential to be very dangerous this season.

    Ashton at Louisburg

Ashton Lover (2010 Ardrey Kell HS) has he has thrown 4 innings, has 8K's and has allowed 1 hit. It looks like he will be a closer for them this year. Should be a fun year.

That's has to be thrilling. I know what it's like to watch a son come back from TJ Surgery.

In front of another 4000+ crowd Chase and Jack picked up hits today (Jack's on a bunt in the bottom of the 9th to get runner to third!) Was a VERY well pitched game by both teams.

Opening Day for ECU 2011 and 3 freshmen starters. Chase's first collegiate at bat yesterday in the second inning was an RBI Double off the wall in left center... all three of those freshman had great opening days. Reynolds had some absolute web gems at third today!

It sure is a lot of fun to watch this team play!

    Brian,

Your son pitched great again today. I know he would have preferred not to have given up that list hit; but, the batter went slightly off the plate to hit a good pitch. You just have to tip your cap to him.

After seeing the 4 Carolina pitchers I saw today against an excellent Cal State Fullerton team, I don't "think" this is the deepest staff I've seen at Carolina in the last 10 years. I KNOW it is...by far.

The team, itself, is also a bunch of gritty fighters. Not many visitors go into extra innings at Cal State Fullerton and come out victorious; but, this team did. It was a tremendous effort.

That is outstanding for Ryan--fun to watch them get their first collegiate action isn't it? GW is going to need some help on the mound with the loss of Hanslik, but the staff is still young and yet has plenty of experience. I think you are right, they could sneak up on a few teams this year.
