I have the final standings right now, if anyone would like to see them :fart:, just kidding of course, will save my opinions at least until 2nd week of season.

Seriously, good to hear from everyone and good luck to each and every player. I can't wait to see some baseball.

Obviously we know what games we want to make, but lets talk about the other stuff,,,, the important stuff.

    a) any passes out there (as in FREE)

    b) hotdogs, who has the best (gotta give NW props here in years past)

    Seriously, can't wait. Thanks.

but p.s.,,,,,, please don't hold my sidekick against me...

No surprise here, NW is definitely a favorite this year, not just in conference but to go deep in playoffs. (sorry if too much too early :wavey:)

I don't think you can hand NW the title just yet. NW should be in the mix but the SPC has got some quality teams and any one of them could easily win the conference. Mt. Pleasant, Hickory Ridge, JM Robinson, NW and my darkhorse, Cox Mill all have a shot. This is not intended as a shot towards CC, Ktown or Concord, I just don't think they have enough of the puzzle to contend. As far as the scrimmage goes, I do think some questions were answered for NW. The outfield played well and getting Miller back once basketball is over will only solidify that group into a team strength. The infield played well also, again, adding Seager from basketball will only solidify those positions also. Both catchers seem to be servicable defensively, but both could use more arm strength. The biggest surprise was at the plate, everyone seemed to be very aggressive swinging the bat. IMO, the big question mark is still pitching. The two starters are very good, probably two of the better starters in the conference but relief pitching and a closer are still an unknown. For NW to contend for a conference title, much less make a run in the state playoffs, they will have to develop some depth at pitching. Hopefully this weekends scrimmage vs. WS Glenn and W. Forsyth will allow someone to step into the relief and closer roles. I do hope the officials at this scrimmage will call more than one or two innings at a time before switching out. It seemed like pitchers from all three teams had trouble adjusting to each umpires strike zone as often as they were coming in and out.

jd, man you are all over it with your pre season analysis

The NW folks truly believe this is our year. In fact, maybe now or never. Do you know if Corey S. will be at short or second? The consensus of the parents is he is a great ballplayer but maybe a step slow for ss but perfect for 2nd.
Welcome comments. Did his brother end up at 2nd or 3rd at UNC?

    Mount Pleasant

Mount Pleasant - South Rowan scrimmage (14 innings Sat.)

Mount has two solid starters in Allende and Atwood. Other arms looked promising...should be able to find a little depth...how much who knows. Nice grouping of speed at top of lineup. Lots of power in the middle bats. Strong defense up the middle (lots of speed). Looks like six seniors may be starting. Will it come together and be enough for SPC??? Scrimmage at Ardrey Kell Thur.

Oh I wouldn't ever hand the title to someone else, as long as Coach Tyson and Laws are in the same conference. But NW is definitely a favorite, as evidenced by your beating up on 2 opponents last Saturday, WITHOUT Seager... :helpsmilie:

I agree with your top favorites in the league.

I go to scrimmage games to look at the future, not the present. Mount will be fine, Atwood is probably the be best player in the SPC.
