The best advice I have heard came from a college coach at a camp that my daughter attended this weekend. When you are making your decision about the school you will be attending, make sure you pick the school that you would go to if softball was not even in the picture.

    SEC vs ACC

Looks like ACC softball can't compete with SEC...over ranked UNC( only the USA coaches poll) USA /espn poll doesn't have them ranked, gets clobbered by Florida in 2 games 9 to 0 and 10-0. NCState is getting clobbered by Georgia 13-4 in 5th...

Florida and Ga are two highly ranked teams and Alabama of the SEC is favorite to win national championship. Fla State and Ga Tech are the favorites in ACC and actually GA Tech had one of best hitting teams in country last year.
You are correct SEC is far ahead of ACC overall and is probably the second best softball conference in the country to Pac 10! UNC has a good club with some good local talent mixed with some quality young out of state kids. They will be OK and will make playoffs again.

    Scores

Check this out...NC State gets beat by Georgetown 2 to 1...Georgetown? are you kidding me? Coastal Carolina beats VT 6 to 5. VT doesn't recruit much in NC and SC...maybe they should....

    ACC is down

I had a long conversation with Eileen Schmidt (UVA) a couple of weeks ago. She agreed with my assessment that, in the ACC, only GT has a proven #2 pitcher. That leaves all the other teams very vulnerable. Because of this fact you are going con't to see scores like St Joe over UNC and GT over NCST. Coach Schmidt also confirmed what I have been hearing for the last year from multiple D1 coaches; it's a down cycle for pitching. She said it was 'slim pickin's' on the recruiting trail.
