Matt Jacobus is a sophomore pitcher for Weddington HS. Earlier in today's practice, Matt was hit with a line drive in the face. He received medical care at the field and was transported to the Hospital by Ambulance.

Details of his condition are limited at this time.

    Thoughts and Prayers

This was a very dangerous situation yesterday. From what I have heard last night is that the line drive was deflected of his glove and hit him above the right eye cutting his rightside forehead. I have not heard how he or his family is doing this morning. Our thoughts and prayers will be with Matt and his Family as well Coach Poole and the Weddington Players who were all shaken by the situation.

Matt is a Left Handed JV Pitcher that was getting some live mound time throwing BP in a scrimmage type situation. He also had live base runners working on his pick off move. You are correct about non-pitchers throwing BP, they throw from 50' behing an L-SCREEN with Screens also set up down both foul lines protecting the players on the ball buckets.

    Agreed,

I think the changes for HS should have happened the same as College.
