    Nice to see West Meck getting in some good baseball. I looked to see who they've played. A nice win over Hopewell and S. Meck shows promise for this squad. However, they did not play Marvin Ridge yesterday. Marvin Ridge is not on their schedule.

    MR loses to S.Meck 7-6

    According to the local paper.....Marvin Ridge comes up 1 short against S. Meck due to a home run being disallowed. S. Meck questions bat after HR and umpires agree that it does not comply with rules. What was a 3 run homer turned into an out.

    Players.....make sure your bat complies with the new rules!!
    Coaches....check your players bats before the game!!
    Umpires.....enforce the rules.

    A good job by the Umpires to do the right thing (the hard thing) and call the player out.

    Mechanics?

    Maybe a good one for Stretchy to weigh in on....but aren't the umpires supposed to inspect and approve bats before the game begins? Surely no one would try to sneak in a bad bat after the inspection - MR runs a tight ship and has a top-shelf coach with integrity.

    This is one of those deals that stinks for everyone and shouldn't have happened - kinda like a holding call inside the 20 yard line in football on a game winning drive.

    Illegal Bat thread

    Hmmmm --

    After reading the illegal bat thread, everything is as clear as the Catawba.

    How about this scenario....umpires check the bats for dents, cracks, etc. as per the pregame ritual. Coach says "yep" all our bats are compliant. Fifth inning Bubba rips a liner up the middle and Nolan Ryan, Jr. catches it off his melon and goes down with a concussion and perhaps long-term damage. Bat is found to be on the naughty list. Who is responsible? Talk about some finger pointing ----

    NWC Schedule


    I've got a schedule from a player at NWC and Tuesdays game is at MT PL and the game at NWC is on Sat the 19th. The Independent Tribune had it listed wrong in todays paper.

    Spartans get 4 in the 4th on Danny Sawyer's bases-loaded 2B plating 3. Sawyer would advance to 3rd on the throw to the plate, and then score as the return throw to the pitcher was thrown to the backstop.

    Spartans travel to AL Brown, Hough, and Olympic this week.
