because every kid that takes this money has lost her chance to play in college. she has lost her amatuer status. only an idiot would do this to the kids.

based on the fact that this person is obviously lacking the knowledge needed for his girls to play at the next level i would ban him/her from coaching.:sign0081:

What about kids that dont go to play in college... which is probably more than 80% at that age. So, you dont pay the kid down the street to mow your lawn? How many parents "reward" their kids for good grades?

As it turns out, you completely got the story wrong anyway.

i can pay a college pitcher to mow my lawn and she doesnt lose her status. i can pay her for a pitching lesson and she doesnt lose her status but if she takes money from a business to give lessons she loses her status. the rule is a fine line and helping with expenses is one thing but to actually hand a kid 500 bucks cash money to come and play on a team will cost her a chance to play in college.

by your argument to this you obviously have a kid involved or are the coach. i certainly hope this isnt the case but you need to make sure the kids and parents involved know the risk.

not all kids will play in college but trying to figure out which ones will or wont at the age of 12 is poor judgement. why strip them of the chance before they ever know?

    not smart

    Double $$$$

Well if he doubles the amount than maybe he can pull kids from other states to come and play ball on his team.I always thought the harder you worked the better your team got.Just because you have money to throw away doesn't mean the players will gel or play well together. Also if anyone does go for this I guess a smart thing to do is have a contract agreement written up.If there are any 99 players looking for a good agent this guy can prob set you up with one of them also_OMG we are talking about 99's!!!!
