That 290 down the lines and 340 to center didnt seem to stop providence from beating down ardrey kell in the first meeting, oh and by the why it was at ardrey kell. And providence hit 3 home runs to ak's 2

11 home runs in one game by one team definitely makes one immediately think about field dimensions (and wind assist, possibly), but you still have to acknowledge that these hitters are squaring up the ball and driving it hard in the air. The lack of uniform field dimensions is one of the unique things about baseball vs. basketball and football. The old major league parks were amazing in the wide differences in their dimensions :

Polo Grounds: 258' RF corner, 483' to dead center
Old Yankee Stadium (Ruth era) 295' to RF corner, 490' to dead center
Yankee Stadium 1954: 344' to straightaway RF (Maris 61 homers in 1961)
Griffith Stadium - DC: amazing 405" down the LF line/corner
Forbes Field - Pitts. 365" down the LF line.corner, 457' to CF

I had a parent who's son plays at a school with infamous short fences say that he thought it actually was a detriment to the players as he thought their achievements and skills were overly discounted because of the field dimensions. Sure, he said some of the HRs would have been outs possibly elsewhere, but many of the HRs would have cleared most any fence around by a considerable margin and they just get lumped in with the others as "field advantaged" home runs.
