    Pickoffs

I've seen seven or eight errors not charged on botched pickoff throws in the sw4a this year alone. I don't think the scorers know that it's an error on either the pitcher or first baseman. It happened twice in one inning at providence and twice the other night at hough. I've watched baseball at providence for years and always walk away shaking my head at their interpretations of score keeping.

A scoring book you can go to the bank on............

I am not sure who keeps the stats for Mallard Creek but my guess is their stats are at least 99% correct. Not only the accuracy of the numbers but the judgement calls (eg. Hit/error). Congrats are in order to coach McGeorge and/or his appointee. I realize it is definitely not about the numbers but why not do it right? The kids and the game deserve it.
Perhaps a cold Saturday in winter would be a great time for a clinic??? ......................,,,,,,,,,,,,,:REDanceBanana011:

If a baserunner gets a extra base because of a bad throw on a pickoff, it's an error, usually on the pitcher. Some things pitchers do should be an error. We've all seen the pitcher whose up 0-2 on the batter & his next pitch is right down the middle. And the batter deposits it somewhere & thanks the guy while running to 1st base. Please, let's don't show off that 75 MPH fastball you have in your arsenal in that situation. How bout one in the dirt, or eye level. I've seen pitchers who were like Superman on the mound, K-ing batter after batter, inning after inning, but as soon as someone reaches 1st base they turn into Clark Kent. That runner on 1st base just worries the heck out of them. They throw over. Nothing. Throw over again. safe. Another throw. Dag, it's in the dirt or over the 1st baseman's head & the runner is now rounding 2nd & heading for 3rd. Probadly going to score too. We've all seen it.
