    EM v Hopewell

Hopewell traveled to EM tonight for an out of conference game and the teams combined for 18 hits and 15 runs. With the Eagles leading 6-4 in the bottom of the 6th, David Daniels cleared the bases to give EM 3 insurance runs. They would need them, as Hopewell put 2 runs on the board in the 7th. The rally would end there and the Eagles prevailed 9-6 on another beautiful night for baseball. Jonathan Crews picked up the win, while Jordan Blair was tagged for the loss.

I have been to over 50 games this spring and I want to comment on the East Meck squad. From what I observed, they have some of the best team spirit, team unity and player camaraderie around. It's more than just occasional rah-rah stuff and it really shows....and I think it fuels their success.

    Glad someone else saw that.

Your comment is right on point. I have commented many times this season that the 2011 EM baseball team is the tightest knit group I have ever seen. What you see at the games is just the tip of the iceberg though. Having a son on the team I get to see them a lot and they are just as close off the field. They do everything together. They go to the driving range together, they go fishing together, they eat together, they double (triple, quadruple) date together. They have a genuine love for each other that has infected everyone around them. Their siblings are close, as well as their parents and even their girlfriends. There are 6 seniors, 4 juniors, and 4 sophomores in that dugout but they are the definition of team.

Sounds like the kind of bond that may weave its' way through their adult years.....I don't have any connnection to East Meck, but it was nice to witness their behavior from the perspective of an unattached HS baseball fan.
