I-MECK CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT

It is time for the first I-MECK post-season baseball tournament. It would be "cool" to use this location to post everything about this event, starting with posting the brackets, game times and location. Continuing with game stats, facts, commentaries and accolades. If you were at the games help inform us who couldn't make all games.
....................... The only thing I think I know is that the first round games are on Friday, May 6.
We would love to hear about everything: atmosphere, fan support level, coaching, umpiring, hot dogs, sportsmanship, etc. Pretend you are Langston!! ..

Info regarding game locations, etc, would be great too. I have heard a rumor that the final will be played at UNCC as a double-header with the SW4A championship - Anyone know if that is true?

 

Boy I hope so. Wouldn't that be great for fans and players. Great atmosphere, stellar park, fans getting to watch two great baseball games. I have yet to hear anything as a player but I'm not exactly in the loop over here. Let us know if anyone hears anything.

 

Charlotte @ home this weekend

I do not know about the I meck/ SW4A Tournament.
I do know that Charlotte ( #25 in polls) has their final Home weekend series this weekend (May 6-8) against Richmond.

We would all love to have the local tournament finals at Charlotte, but I do not know how they could get those games in at the "Hayes" this weekend.

Charlotte game Saturday would end about 5pm.

I do not want to poop on the party, but there are games this weekend.

 

Do they play Sunday?

 

The I Meck Conference final is next Monday.

 

1st round of the Conf. Tournament will be at the higher seed on Friday, May 6.

2nd round of the Conf. Tournament will be at Hopewell on Saturday, May 7.

Championship Game will be at 4pm on Monday, May 9 at UNCC. (The SW4A Championship game will follow at 7pm.)

 

I was thinking that the conf tourney only matters to those who didn't qualify for state tourney, or if they want a 2 seed by winning conf tourney. A chance to play at UNCC is a carrot dangling in front of alot of schools!

 

I appreaciate that UNCC is alowing the I-Meck to have their Championship game at their beautiful stadium, but i have a serious problem that maybe only bothers me. If the schedule is correct what i saw MC28 post then why in the HELL is the game schedule for 4pm. Whom ever is playing in the game, the parents, student body and other fans of that team will certainly miss it. The parents who gets off at 5pm will not get to the game, the students will have a hard time getting to the game. Basically the players will be playing in front of very few people. To me it also shows the respect that our conference is getting (none), if the SW4A conference is playing their championship game at 7pm. Switch the times and see how much hell their fans, coaches and players would raise. Making the game at 5:30 would atleast give the parents and fans a chance to get to the game. Again i know the players appreaciate the chance to play at UNCC, but they would also like the opportunity to play such an important game in their High School career in front of family and friends. I am upset because of the game time and if i have the times wrong, i do apologize.

Given the choice of playing at 5:30 sounds like a reasonable middle ground. Otherwise play on home field of higher seed at 7pm. Not much thought was put into this one! Who is the decision maker's sounding board? Did conference coaches or AD s have input?
