Porter Ridge/Weddington should a lot of fun with Kwasnik squaring off against Newsome. Won't be a ton of runs scored in that one.

It did not disappoint when it came to pitching. Jordan Newsome carried a no-no into the seventh, though he trailed 2-1. Kwasnik gave up a lead off homer, and then calmly struck out 14 in the complete game win. Weddington led 1-0 after the bottom of the first and Morales' lead off HR. In the fifth, PR's leadoff guy walked. The next hitter hit what should have been a 6-3 putout, but the throw was high and the runners ended up at second and third with no out. Two RBI groundouts later, PR led 2-1 and Kwasnik made it stand up. Great performances by two great pitchers.

In the SV/MR game, Chris Timberlake gave up 4 hits and 1 unearned run in the CG game victory.

Marvin Ridge will play Weddington Friday at 4:30 before the SCC championship game to determine the #1 and #2 seeds for the playoffs.

Kwasnik has been a real problem for the Weddington hitters. The first time they played he dealt out 11k's. This outing he dealt out 14!. A very nice performance.

There have not been too many pitchers that have not been a problem for Weddington hitters.

    That's a bold statement.

That being said the Weddington bats have been erratic.....quiet one game and exploding the next. They have faced some of the top pitchers in the city this year and have fared pretty well in my opinion. Not too many teams out there (who are not in the SW4A) who have had the pleasure of facing:
    McQue
    Elwood
    McWhirter
    Hendel
    Powell
    Kwasnik
    Ingram
    Chadwick
    Trosch

Easy to feast on mediocre pitching. Anyone can do that. Let's see production across the board against that list. My guess would be that not to many teams could brag on their performance against it. Maybe you can.

Not to mention being without Shellhorn for most of the year.

WOW!! Not sure of your knowledge of the schedule W played this season. You might want to take a look before disparaging this squad. No "cupcakes" were played....not even in the preseason. The talent level this year rivals most across the region and would should be considered at least in the top 2 for Union County. They do not have the "fortune" of playing teams that have bad pitching, bad defense that allows double digit scoring and runners to steal at will to pad the stats.

Weddington plays the best teams around. They normally face that teams best pitcher. The other coaches know this is their bast chance to get a win against a high quality ball club. That normally leads to low scoring ball games that create situations where one or two miscues mean the difference in a win or loss.

With the list of pitchers Baseballx3 noted above, your not going to have a 10-15 hit night. Those guys know how to pitch. Give them their due....they rose to the occasion when it mattered.

If Weddington wasn't that good, the college scouts would not be hanging around the dugout after the game!!

West Stanly beat Weddington tonight 7-6 on a two run walk off home run in the bottom of the 7th.[/quote]

I have a report that the ball Ingram hit to win the game has just landed!! The Air Traffic Control is looking into it to see if a flight plan was registered and what passport stamps were noted.
