I think you will find some hardcore feelings and beliefs on both sides, depending on their experiences

Theres a lot of misinformation on both sides. Ive always said its up to the "individual",,,,,,,, his situation skill-wise, his location (if legion IS EVEN available), his finances, etc etc. I understand how both legion/showcase work, and I support both,,,,,,, but Ive also heard some stories over the years about each that made me sick. Bottomline, the kid/family have to make the best choice possible for your individual situation. I wish you and your son the very best (to the poster who started this thread).

Thank you for clarifiying what I was saying earlier. If good showcase (pay to play) was not getting results people would not purchase their product.I understand that in some parts of the state Legion is the only game going and may have the desired outcome of getting a kid seen by someone. In Union Co NC there are 2 Legion teams, one was picked before any workouts and the other was the Sun Valley HS team and coached by two dads of SV players so do the math. This is also an investment in your childs future and I wish everyone the best. (GREAT DEBATE)

Trust me, there are horror stories on both sides.

I took on this topic about 5 years ago on here. If Braves can find my post on this topic, I would like to add it. Anyways, I am not near the Legion homer as I once was but I still feel that American Legion is still the truest source of competitive baseball in Western NC. The battles of Pineville, Cherryville, Shelby, Caldwell and others were epic and could be a great source of a book that would put Friday Night Lights to shame.

I used to love an old line from a coach in this area. American Legion Baseball, the reason I got up at the crack of noon all summer long.
