1st Round Playoff Scores

I think we would all love series, but there are some issues.
1. of course is cost.
2. Time, it would be difficult to get all those games in without reducing the number of teams.
3. Missed school for travel. 4. Could also cause many srs to miss prom, awards ceremonies, grad parties etc.

If there were a way to fairly seed the tournament, 1 and done would not be so bitter. Seeding would be a daunting task though.

I do feel that a team should have a winning record in class and in conference to paticipate. Some of the automatic bids ensure some teams make the playoffs even if they are winless for the entire season.

 

I think the NCHSAA should consider reducing the amount of playoff teams. Having 5 teams from 1 conference is too much & also alot of losing teams get in. Last week, a winless Hertford County ladies soccer team (0-18) traveled to Wilson for a 1st round playoff game. Reducing the amount of teams would certainly give the conferences more-meaningful regular season matchups.

 

couldn't agree more with you karl. the idea of a losing team getting into the playoffs is crazy to me. a playoff spot should be earned by, not handed to. i say this as a coach of a team who did GET a playoff spot with a losing record. while it was nice to have the chance compete in the playoffs, it wasn't exactly earned and not nearly as satisfying.

I think you're both right. Best 2 out of 3 would give us a much better idea of who the better team really is, but the reason they can't do it is because of the travel costs.
