    Another great outing from Daniel Stewart of Catholic as the Cougars won 6-2 in front of another packed house at "Jack D" in Pineville. Catholic had huge RBI hits from Eddie Hull, Danny Ryan, and Michael Crowley to send them into the 3rd round. Marvin Ridge comes calling on Friday night in what should be the game of the year in these parts!!

    Mallard Creek advances to third round.

    Mallard Creek put an old fashion stomping on Hopewell. Score was something like 12 -1.:mixed-smiley-045:

    throw90, thanks for the update, now i see that mincmi posted that earlier, when i glanced at it a few hours ago, i figured that was referring to Tuesday, both of those fields under water that bad?

    They could have played but they were muddy. If it would have rained any they would have been unplayable long trip to turn around and go home.It will be better Thursday.

    NW Guilford must be a strong team. Providence is highly-ranked....a very talented team and well coached....have one of the top three players in NC in Brett Austin. Beat Ardrey Kell twice, but lost to private school power Charlotte Christian and a strong Charlotte Country Day team took them to the bottom of the 7th where Providence had to score two to avoid losing (and they did, prevailing 6-5). The one and done format of these playoffs makes it exciting and perilous at the same time. A few key hits and a few breaks can put any quality team in the win column vs. the top teams, particularly when there is not a shut-down pitcher involved (Benton Moss, Dillon Maples, etc)
