    North lenoir will beat Rocky Mount
    NL could have a hay day with RM pitching, they can hit. Moss won't be pitching, if he was RM would win. North Lenoir will win 8-2. Moss can only carry RM so far.

    Eastern Wayne will beat Conley (this will be a close one) 5-4
    this one depends on how much pitching Conley has left, they don't have much offense

    Union Pines 2 Chapel Hill 1

    Gabe Gonzalez (4-1) goes the distance for the W!

    Carson Kelly has a solo bomb in straight center for the winning run.

    Union Pines (19-7) now travels to Asheboro for a 3rd round meeting.

    I wouldn't sell Rocky Mount or Conley short in these two games. Rocky Mount is a little banged up right now w/ Lilley out & Matt Berry hobbling some, but Jeremy Johnson is certainly capable of keeping things close. Who knows, the Gryphon bats might win this game. Conley has some guys on the bench who can throw besides Deloatch & Gupton. I've seen James Pierce on the mound, and I'm sure there's others. I'm looking for two close ballgames, and you never know who might show up on the mound at the end to finish things off. It's the playoffs.

    Dh conley I could see but RM lives by Benton Moss. Maybe they will try to move the game Saurday ( or did they try already). After watching them play, they would have trouble placing third in the ECC conference. Aycock played their second worse game of the year and you have to be flawless to beat Moss. With six hits you should beat Moss. Aycock has been walking many batters lately the last two weeks and it caught up to them aginst RM

    If "ifs and buts" were candy and nuts we'd all have a Merry Christmas. Alot of teams, like Aycock, are sitting home because they didn't play their best game or were beaten by a great pitcher. That's playoff baseball. Rocky Mount's obviously better when Moss pitches, & you may be right when you say the Gryphons would have trouble placing third in the ECC, but didn't North Lenoir finish fourth in the ECC. Should be a good game.

    Sounds like these guys think Conley and Rocky Mount should just stay at home Friday, huh Karl?

    Good Pitching vs Good Hitting

    Thanks KarlRocket.....I always appreciate your insight....

    Conley does have some other guys that can get it done on the mound. Also, Conley has struggled at times with the bat, but I have also seen this team absolutely mash the ball against some pretty good pitching. Don't count them out....I like your thought....it is the playoffs so just about anything can happen. So far has been some pretty exciting baseball....

    Well, they are the higher seeds & get to host.:sunny: By the way, Rocky Mount's game with North Lenoir has been moved up to 6:00pm on Friday night due to Rocky Mount having their Junior-Senior prom that night also.
