    Grasshopper was right on.
Wheels just fell off for NW Guilford.
Too many extra outs in the first (3 errors), a few walks, and a couple of hits that didn't total 300 feet - plus a couple legit liners - and it was 9-0 in a blink. Hurt me for coach Gann to see it.

    I stand corrected.

Mallard creek lost to TC Roberson, 11-10 in 8 innings. Roberson jump out to a 9-0 lead in the first 4 innings. The Creek fought back and tied the game 9-9. Mallard Creek went ahead 10-9 in the top of the eighth. In the bottom of the eighth, the first batter struck out. The second batter flied out for the second out but was awarded first on catchers interference. The next batter got out as the the base runner stole second. The coaches decided to walk the next batter intentional, which put runners on first and second with two out. The next batter hit a fly ball to the left fielder who dropped it and the tieing and winning runs scored without the benefit of a hit. Just a devastating loss for the team and the seniors on this team. Mikal Hilll, John Murry, Tyler McCarthy, Mikal Boles, Blaine Lewis, these seniors was on the varsity as freshman when the school first opened. They took their lumps but made the state playoffs every year accumulating in winning the first ever I-Meck Conference Championship, and advancing to the 3 round of the playoffs this year, their senior year. Another classy move that made me proud was, although they were hurt and very upset, John Murry and Mikal Hill ran out to left field to console and pick up their fellow teammate who made the error, hugging and carrying him in their arms back to the dugout. Guys the whole MAVERICK family is proud of you.
