Intentionally put winning walk off run on base????

INCREDIBLE!!!!! Why did Mallard Creek coach do that?:toilet-paper: Is there more to the story than that?
Was there murmurings among the fans when he did that?
Or did crowd agree with that decision at the time?
Was MC pitcher struggling at the time? Can't believe putting winning run on base in home half of an extra inning. Unless it was Manny!!........:hanged:

    TTCRES1771, YOU READ IT RIGHT

Not only did the MC coach intentionally walk the winning run with two outs, Kirk Morgan, the Mallard Creek pitcher had struck out the same batter both times he faced him in this game. Only one way to describe this....bad, bad baseball!!............:wtf23:

This Mooresville coach agrees . MC baseball players always took the time to speak with us before and after games. A class team.

Difficult situation at the end of the game and I think both teams handled it very well. TC players went to the player in left to try to help him through it along with the Mallard Creek teamates that went out to talk to him and help him in. That is what being a team and growing into young men is all about, very classy from the Mallard Creek fans to greet their players after the game also.

    Paid My Dues.............................

No, the Mallard Creek pitcher was not struggling to throw strikes. Sophomore Kirk Morgan was in total control and was getting Roberson hitters out, as his team was scoring runs to come back. Other then the intentional walk, Morgan walked nobody in seven innings.

Morgan was in total control and getting outs. I wish coaches had left him alone................. I think Mallard Creek would be traveling to Porter Ridge on Tuesday if they had.

    Where's the book?

I've read through these threads several times and wonder how many different endings this story could have had? AND, in the words of Michael Vick, "I ain't got no dog in this fight!"

If the facts are correct - runner on 2nd, two outs - up one run in bottom of eight, then what does the "book" say to do?

    • IW puts force in play - good/bad? What are the odds?
    • Play is made, game is over - anyone question the coach's decision?
The pure fact of the matter is that the best team doesn't always win, and the "book" isn't always right. Lady Luck can be mean if it is her time of the month!

Baseball is a cruel and exhilarating game - no one is ever the hero or goat for very long. I believe Jim McKay famously said "The thrill of victory, the agony of defeat" (I still have nightmares over the ski jumper crashing at the end of the ramp! BTW - he lived behind the Iron Curtain - couldn't have played baseball if he wanted to!)

Congrats on a great season MC - the guys on that team will have many thrills ahead of them on the big, and bigger stage!
