The way I saw it: Crossed Up:

Hey Baylee. Blue crossed up the pitcher. Pitcher asked for the duece but Blue wanted to announce his presence with authority and threw his heater.

    MR @ Catholic

I was at the MR @ Catholic game Friday...let me first comment on what a TREMENDOUS job the City of Pineville has done with Jack Hughes Park...that is an unbelievably beautiful place they've put together. Catholic is very fortunate to play in a first class facility like that...and the Pineville community should be proud!

As far as the game, MR did what they always do, put a TON of pressure on the opposition and Catholic couldn't handle it. Just a guess, but I bet MR stole 7-8 bags, and that probably led to at least 6-7 of their 10 runs. Yes, Catholic made a bunch of uncharacteristic mistakes, but MR capitalized, that's the sign of a good team. MR's pressure style of offense has but 8-10 runs on the board every game in the playoffs. Great group of players...congrats to MR...they made it happen when it counted.

    Parkwood @ Marvin Ridge:

There are some interesting angles here. First, Parkwood has beaten some really good teams to get here. Who would have thought Parkwood would be in this position?
Marvin Ridge has been hot beating Koerner on a walk-off and stomping Catholic. They put a lot of pressure on the defense.

Mennitt was at Parkwood for a few years and the Parkwood coach actually played for Mennitt at Independence. They are conference foes and are separated by about 5 miles.

    Any thoughts? Previous matchups?

They played twice during the regular season in early April and split. MR won 5-1 at Home and lost 3-0 on the road.

    MR vs. Parkwood

Wouldn't count either team out but having a son play against Coach Mennitt for several years I will say his team will win a one run game nine times out of ten. Don't think he will be outcoached and would love to see him play chess with some big name college coaches - he is a motivator and will make his kids "believe" they can beat anybody.

However, Parkwood is on a roll and with Brooks on the mound they are tough. Coach Starnes obviously has his kids drinking some of Mennitt's water - because they believe too or they wouldn't be here. Good Luck to both teams. Union County has some great baseball and somebody's gonna be in the FINAL FOUR.... Way to go guys, you make us all proud.

    Sectional Game

Exciting game yesterday at Marvin Ridge. Hats off to Coach Mennitt and his team for hanging in there and grinding out the win. What a great run this team is on....playing with a lot of confidence. Good luck in the Semi- finals!!

Also, I can't say enough about the heart shown by Parkwood in coming back from a 6 run deficit to tie it in the 7th inning. Great season for that group of young men and coach Starnes. I'm not sure anybody expected them to get this far and they showed that they deserved it.

South Point will be hard to beat in a 3-game series. The 1-2 punch of Jeffrey Springs & Logan Walden has got to make them the favorites to win the West. They're not scoring many runs in their games, but don't really need to.
