sorry....turned in my scorebook for a camera for the last game and then with travel and graduation stuff, been kinda crazy. Here is a brief recap on the Country Day vs. Forsythe Country Day 3A championship.

Charlotte Country Day advanced to the championship series with a thrilling walkoff 9-8 victory over Wesleyan Christian and then had to tee it up 25 minutes later against George Carter and the Forsythe Country Day Furies. Carter was a one-man wrecking crew with a 3-run dinger in the first and impressive dominance on the mound. William Frazier doubled and the Bucs collected two singles and that was it. Carter had total command of a sharp breaking curveball and it set him up for success all evening. Furies win 6-1.

In game two, the Bucs were rested and ready to play their way into a rubber game and it was a see-saw affair all the way. In the first, sophomore sparkplug Patrick Brady opened the game by singling up the middle and William Frazier doubled to left center to plate the Bucs first run. Tyler Holloway doubled in a run later with another gap shot. Adam Griffin and DC Arendas both drove the ball out of the ballpark to spark the Furies. Lee Harrison was both gutty and effective by mixing his sinking fastball with a very nice slider, throwing a complete game for the Bucs. The ultimate winning run scored on a sac fly. The Bucs were trailing 4-3 going to the bottom of the 7th. William Frazier led off with a double to deep left, but could only advance to third on a sac bunt. The Furies pulled the infield in and got the ground out to short they were looking for and Brandon Culbreth recorded the game-ending strikeout with a serious heater.

    Country Day finishes 21-6....

Here is a wrap up on a semifinal on the 3A bracket

Wild game in the 3A semifinals as Country Day prevails when junior catcher Brian Duncan drove a walk off gap shot with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 7th to finish off a 3-3 day at the plate. The Bucs had to rally with two in the bottom of the 7th to win and cobbled together a walk, passed ball, intentional walk, errant pickoff throw to first that scored the tying run from second, two more intentional walks, and then Duncan's walk off drive to right center. Wesleyan swung some big lumber with three HRs, but could not hold the one out, no runners on, one run lead in the last frame. Besides Duncan, the Bucs attack was led by Tyler Holloway 2-3, Patrick Brady 2-4, Patrick Langdon 2-4, William Frazier 2-5 and Sammy Brown with an RBI double. Wesleyan home run hitters were Chris Ferrante, Brandon Goodson, and Cameron George. The Bucs advance to the best of three championship series against Forsyth Country Day with a record of 21-5. Wesleyan finishes with a record of 19-7.

    Congrats to both teams

Great season for the Bucs. Mikes a terrific coach. Langdon could always hit. And he's a really smart kid too. I first coached him when he was seven or eight. He would talk with me like an adult. He already had a better vocabulary than most people I know. LOL.

As for Andy Partin......... WWBA World Championship with the Dirtbags AND a HS State Championship in one year. They were loaded and you could see this one coming a mile away.

Yep, after a 4-run 1st inning in Game One we played them 2-1 and 4-3 the rest of the way....played them tough and played them close, made all the plays, but came up short on timely hits as we left a lot of runners in scoring position. They got the key outs when they had to have them and that's why they are the champs....nice players and nice families.

    Congrats to the victors!
