megan whitecavage

The real deal. This whitecavage girl can play. Megan plays for a travel team (charlotte starz). At catcher megan is very quickly making her name known around the area. Her competition has learned the hard way that stealing bases will not come easy. Megan has a cannon for an arm with pop time better than varsity H.S. girls (megan is only 13). She has the talent at the plate as well. Extra base hits seems to be the usual for megan as she has tremendous gap power. Size is no problem as she stands 5 ft 10 inches tall and looks to weigh around 135. High school coaches are all over this young lady and have been for a while now. Im sure if you have not heard the name megan Whitecavage you will soon. Look for Megan to compete in the battle of the borders showcase. Im sure they are on her. Keep working hard megan.

 

Shall we start a post for all pretty good 13 year olds? Catching is more than throwing people out and hitting.It will be a different world for her when she reaches 16u it is a lot faster and so are the players.I must say she does need to work on her blocking skills and quickness going after pass balls and just knowledge of the game from what I saw this past fall.I don't mean any disrespect in any way this is just how some other coaches view this same player.She has a long ways to go!!!!I can't even think about comparing her to like a Boomer or other well respected catchers in the area high schools.

I have seen the whitecavage kid play as my daughter has been playing against her for a number of years. A top player in this league for sure. Hope to see megan continue to do well. HARD WORKER ON AND OFF THE FIELD!!!!!!!! some of the previous posters should be ashamed of their negative comments.

 

I don't understand why the post should be deleted. BigStars was just recognizing the talant of a young, up and coming player. I know it only takes one negative person to ruin a discussion but it shouldn't turn nasty.
The comment about High School coaches following her is correct but it isn't that they are trying to recruit her it is because they see her tallent and want to know who she will be competing against. Besides, Independence High School took care of the recruiting issue for all of the schools.
I think the comment about Meghan having to work on her blocking is incorrect, the majority of the balls that pass her at the plate are concidered wild pitches that even seasoned High School catchers would not be able to stop and not passed balls. UcBaller,You may have seen a game or two but that doesn't reflect Meghans ability, she still has another year and a half before she gets to High School.
