That is why I made my comment, HELP ME UNDERSTAND........trying to state that it was a DQ, may have been eject at first but was changed....Not putting blame on anyone, just know that the UMP must of not heard anything too bad because he was allowed to continue in the next game......trying to help ERMS understand that rules are made to change or be modified. ALL the coaches and players should be commended wheather they do or say something in the heat of the moment...Coach in question hasn't been ejected any this year, I can't speak of any other coaches but will go out on a limb and say that the ones in Raleigh probably have been ejected sometime in their career.......

The umpire writes up the ejection report for any ejection, restriction or DQ, then the NCHSAA levees whatever penalty they deem appropriate.

In this case the umpire verbally conveyed the ejection report to a NCHSAA agent and the NCHSAA ruled immediately, so if the coach was on the field for the next game then they must have ruled that an ejection was not warranted so no suspension leveed.

It is according to who you are as to how the rules are interpreted. High School ball--that is the way it is, always has been and always will be.

    Not so.

All ejections are reviewed. There are umpires out there who lack the skills necessary to properly handle challenges to their authority. The review process allows cooler heads to prevail and provides the coach and the umpire with the opportunity to improve their handling of situations. If the facts warrant the ejection, it will stand. In this case, ejection was not warranted and was reduced to disqualification.

This coach, who is highly respected by his players and community, coaches his kids very aggressively and is very successful. Today he made an adjustment to his style that did not go unnoticed in the championship games. Both he and yesterday's umpire undoubtedly learned something. Whether you agree or not, the system worked.

I have noticed that coaches that "coach very aggressively" lol do their best to intimidate some umpires and it works. You have to wonder if the coach had been a nobody if the ejection would have been reduced to a disqualification...I think not. Given the history I don't think a one game adjustment to his style will tell us if anything was learned or not. I would be willing to bet that next year will be the same old story. Politics will always play a major role in high school ball whether we like it or not.
